Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do I love 60 fps even on consoles

Fuck 60 fps I want 120fps full 4K or I wont buy any games.

Bottom line is I do not give a flying fuck about a game being 30 or 60 fps. Why would you? You want the option to play at 60fps? You have it, so go for it. How many times do we have to read the same thread over and over again?

That sucks, I'm sorry you have that problem.

Personally, I'm just happy I can play both without a problem. I would be sad if I couldn't play some really good games because I was hung up over 60fps. I guess I'm just lucky.

Trust me, you are. If I could be satisfied with 30fps I'd lead a much happier and inexpensive life.

I can barely notice the difference between 30 and 60.

That's so revealing.

But it was cruel to show that because sometimes it's best to not know what you really want. Now people will be forced to spend their hard-earned cash on expensive hardware upgrades.

I watch movies at 24fps, looks fine to me.

That sidescroller 30/60 fps test only shows two things. It's more obvious on monitors, and 60fps is more important for fast sidescrollers / shmups. Rest works fine at 30. Heck I played ED: Horizons at avg 10fps for months...

I wonder why cinematic games don't do the cut scenes in 24p. Are there still tvs that don't accept that?

in front of a monitor you will notice but not so much on a TV sitting on your coach

I'm with CGI on this one, 30fps vs 60fps is very noticeable even on a TV.

30fps is tolerable in something like Zelda, but a game like, say, F-Zero GX just wouldn't feel right at 30fps.

It depends on the game. I recently played The Last of Us on PS3 and framerate felt very smooth with no drops ever, it honestly felt like 50 fps. On other hand I have Xcom Enemy Unknown on PS3 and it is such a laggy mess it borders unplayable.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Not all games need 60fps.
There are plenty of games where 60 fps doesnt really matter, and they play fantastic at 30.

Soon as we get Freesync TV's and the consoles make use of that, console 30 fps will be fine for everything.

This is what TVs need (and its comeing):

The thing is most games dont have characters that work like that.

Where you view point is fixed and some object your eyes track just zooms from 1 end of your screen to the other.

In most games its not nearly as noticeable as that exsample.
