Gribble why did you take that clear bait? Especially after the last posts that were made by that poster....nothing against him but after that I saw that actual discussion was not even attempted to be made and the posts were just to stir some stuff up. Espeically since everything that he said was the actual opposite of what was happening in the thread/threads.

I just wanted to type something. MS are always keen on pointng out the last 4 months of the year are where it's at. They've not mentioned it this year ...

Definitely can't see XB1 selling 500K as someone said. Sales looks to have slowed down quickly and you have the PS4 slim releasing this month. I'm sticking with my thoughts on XB1 being flat from August.

I know Abdiel, the Best Buy insider on GAF said that Xbox One S hadn't exactly been explosive in his district. They did a good amount of preorders, then everything eventually evened out and settled down. PS4 did about as expected. I'm expecting just over 300k for XBOS on my end.

500k was just a best case scenario. I'm expecting anywhere between 400k and 450k in September.

Oh sorry, i thought 500k was your prediction. That's seem more reasonable then.

The XBs is performing really badly for an enhanced, slimmer, cheaper version of the XB1, especially when you consider the bundle that's slipping down the charts has also got three free games included. The PS4 is clearly being affected by news of the Slim and the Neo. People have to remember that when the PS4 was performing well, it was nearly always in the top 20 and we've already established that anything outside of the top 20 doesn't significantly affect sales numbers. As you go further down the charts the differences become smaller between the console places so having 2 PS4s after 1 XB1 is likely the reason the first update of Sep has the PS4 in the lead.

It's becoming ever clearer that to use Amazon as a clear indication of who won the month we have to have three criterias in mind: The console in question HAS to establish itself in the top 20 and stay there for most of the month, outside of the top 20 we have to consider how many of the opposing console are just below it and (of course) pe-orders are often the deciding factor even though one particular console has lead for the duration of the month. It's the latter that will decide this month and give the XB1 a decent sized win.

As Shadow pointed out in another thread, once the Slim and the Neo launch we're likely to see the PS4 in the lead again, but it HAS to sustain a top 20 position for the month in order to give us any significant numbers. I think it will.

I will take Vgchartz's prediction and stay with 10 Millions for the month.

Here's the penultimate update for August's monthly rankings:

XBO S 2TB: #23 (—)
PS4 CoD bundle: #25 (↓1)
New 3DS XL (black): #35 (—)
XBO S 500GB Halo bundle: #41 (↑1)
PS4 standalone: #57 (↑1)
New 3DS XL (red): #87 (↓5)
XBO S 1TB Madden bundle: #82 (↑4)
PS Vita: #100 (re-entry)

And here's the update for Week 1 of September:

PS4 CoD bundle: #31 (—)
XBO S 500GB Halo bundle: #38 (↓4)
New 3DS XL Galaxy edition: #40 (↓1)
PSTV: #57 (↓16)
XBO S 2TB: #68 (↓5)
PS4 standalone: #75 (↑7)
XBO S 1TB Madden bundle: #78 (↑19)
PS Vita: #83 (↓4)
PS4 UC4 LE bundle: #87 (↓4)

Judging by that, without preorders, XBO may have been looking at a 10K win, again. Now, we just need to see how preorders have gone at other retailers. Like I said in another thread, a 50K or lower gap above the PS4 for August NPD will be a disappointing result for the XBO. Personally, I think I predicted 75K-100K, but we will have to wait and see.

This seem very low.

It's a new model month, sales for XBO are gonna be strong at least those two months, while PS4 has nothing which can boost sales by a decent margin (yes i don't think NMS is a system seller, even if will probabily sells good)

120-180K gap is the most likely range.
