My Nintendo - Did anyone else get gold coins for a 4.99 game?

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - My Nintendo - Did anyone else get gold coins for a 4.99 game?

Everyone who is familiar with the My Nintendo reward system knows that the lowest threshold for eShop purchases is listed as 10 gold coins for spending 5.00-9.99, so NES Virtual Console games are just outside of that range because they are sold for the price of 4.99.

Last week I bought Secret Files: Tunguska for €4.99 and I now have 10 additional gold coins on my My Nintendo account which means the correct range to earn 10 gold coins should actually be 4.99-9.99. Did anyone else experience the same? If this is true, then a lot of additional games are eligible when it comes to collecting gold coins.

Update: Looks like the amount of gold coins you get is determined by the standard price of any given game, so if a €9.99 game like Secret Files: Tunguska is purchased at a discount, Nintendo's reward system still treats it as a €9.99 game.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

I don't know, I have yet to see a decent discount outside of those free Picross games, so I haven't paid that much attention to the gold coins. I also have one question: if one day I spent 17€ and the next I spent 3, do they count as 20€, or do they reset after a while?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Gold coins are automatically added to your account immediately after the purchase of a game or DLC, so the amounts you spend do not stack.

I bought 4 Nes games and none of them gave me points. I think the minimum is 5 dollars, but in USA. In Europe how much does a Nes game costs?

€4.99

I haven't bought one since My Nintendo exists.

That's weird then, I doubt the game you bought had a discount right?

Maybe in Europe you all have that benefit  :/

Secret Files: Tunguska is normally €9.99, but was 50% off, so €4.99. I guess it's possible that this was circumstancial and only works if a discounted game is €4.99. Or that it only applies to Europe.

Perhaps I should look through the NES games that are available on Wii U and buy one of them. It has to be something I want though, because I am not going to buy one randomly just to see if it results in gold coins.

Even when a game is bought at discount, the original price is what nets you the gold coins.
The 10 coins you got were based on the 9.99 price.

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

Perhaps it still counts as a 9.99 game? If I remember correctly you always got full points for games back when we had Wii U Premium, irregardless of any discounts. The same might apply here.

Edit: beaten by a tomato...
