Makes sense. Also factor in that sony said they have "big announcements" this year for e3, which is in the summer as well. Last e3 sony dropped the price by 100 to the 60 gig and then introduced the 80 gig. I believe the same event will happen in uk this summer.

I would probably consider getting a PS3 80GB if it has backward compatibility and bundled with Dual Shock and Killzone 2.
