Forums - Movies Discussion - Finding Dory to be yet another billion dollar film for Disney this year? 1 billion! Eat it haterz! If there were some.....

The BFG didn't really do much to its legs domestically over $450 million dollars is pretty much a done deal now. If The Secret Life of Pets doesn't do to much to its legs either then it will probably make over $500 million domestically.

I just took a look at budgets....

Tarzan 180 million? Besides the Disney cartoon version that did mediocre, no one for one or two generations knows or have any ties to tarzan. Kind of like Zorro, it did well because it was actually decent, but it was not going to be a continuing series.

Independence Day needs over seas to save it and BFG is a train wreck like I thought. So unless it is huge in Europe......

Dory still pushing 10 plus million a day!

$10 million budget Purge 3 beats $180 million Tarzan and $140 million BFG

I love it! bring on small and mid budget films taking the top spots.

All films that have broken $100 million in the USA in the first 6 months of 2016

Captain America: Civil War BV $404,857,604
Deadpool Fox $363,070,709
The Jungle Book (2016) BV $359,041,958
Finding Dory BV $343,788,856
Zootopia BV $340,608,333
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice WB $330,360,194
X-Men: Apocalypse Fox $152,857,455
Kung Fu Panda 3 Fox $143,467,597
The Angry Birds Movie Sony $105,502,614

Interesting selection of 4 superhero films, 4 3D cartoons and 1 live action remake of a Disney cartoon.

Hmm I wonder what film studios are rushing in to production even more off right now.

I find it ..idiotic. Whoever approved these budgets needs to be laid off. Then they get mad when their movies are pirated? 250 million just to make Batman, and another 200 million for marketing? Who approves this crap!

180 for Tarzan is mind boggling! BFG was helmed by Spielberg, so shoot why not, give him a crazy amount of money! I am sorry, but he lost his mojo years ago.

People see his stuff for the same reason they saw Indy Jones 4, nostalgia.

I hope he can turn it around.

Back to Disney, they are doing everything right, and even Universal is doing well.

Fox has been struggling, Deadpool was luck.

The Legend of Tarzan kinda bombed, The BFG totally bombed. Finding Dory is now the second highest grossing movie so far this year domestically. I'm guessing it will make at least $50 million more then Captain America: Civil War has made so far domestically so at least $455+.

Yeah,, Tarzan would have been different had it been a 100 million million. This would be fine.

I can't wait to watch Finding Dory, it releases in my country until July 15th. Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies ever, so a sequel is like a dream come true for me.

I got to watch it a couple weeks ago. It sucks you have to wait that long, but it will be worth it! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I'm not sure why Disney released BFG so close to Finding Dory. It was a bad decision since both share similar audiences so it's not surprising BFG flopped.

It's odd that Mexico usually isn't the first or one of the fist Spanish speaking markets where the big US studios release their major releases.  Besides the US and Canada only Brazil is a bigger market then Mexico when it comes to potential box office revenue in the Americas.  But since the revenue of the US and Canada is always lumped together there is actually no way of knowing of how big a market actually is when it comes to box office revenue.
