Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo E3 - No direct; only treehouse featuring Zelda

Kimishima said there were unnanounced first and third party games for 3DS, why not to announce there? On top of that, how is Paper Mario and Pokemon not ready to be shown if both are expected to come this year?

Maybe if I say it in response to someone, people will read and maybe understand this.

NINTENDO DIDN'T SAY THEY WOULDN'T SHOW OTHER GAMES AT E3.

They said that Zelda would be the only playable game at E3. The bolded word is key. There will be other games shown. But they won't be playable at E3. You can bet your bottom dollar that there will be trailers for Paper Mario, Pokemon, and a heap of other titles. They'll be pushing third party titles, too. But Zelda's the focus, and their entire show-floor area will be dedicated to Zelda.

That, or they'll do what they did in 2012 when they had a "Pre-E3 Direct", prior to their press event.

The one thing we can be pretty confident about is that they're not going to spend every moment of E3 talking about Zelda (at least, not just Zelda U).

Still, given how big the Zelda U world is, They will have plenty of new footage to show at their own event, adding the graphic improvement, it's pretty much as announcing a new game given how hyped people are for this game. Plus after seeing the improved footage at Nintendo's own event people will be like "Oh, damn, I wonder how that part of the world that they explored at E3 will look like..."

I doubt there will be any improvement. Hell, if at this point the game doesn't blow any mind, then they are the laziest company ever. This is not the first year in development, this is the 5 year since Skyward Sword. The game must be almost finished at this point, so no excuse for buggy or rough demos.

that's not what I meant to say. A game like this Zelda can't go past 1080p 30fps or 720p 60 fps on Wii U while maybe on NX it can reach 1080p 60fps ...

Oh, you mean direct comparisions between both versions? That's good.

OK, guys, seriously, you need to read things more carefully.

Have a look - it says that Zelda will be the only "playable game". If they weren't going to talk about and show other games, it would say "only game", not "only playable game".

Besides, do you honestly think they'd be able to fill the ~8 hours a day of Treehouse Live streaming with only Zelda? It's fairly obvious that they'll talk about other games - those games just aren't going to be the main focus.

And I'm going to make a prediction: there will be a direct, it'll come at the end of the event, rather than the start. Why? Because it allows them to focus more on Zelda during the show, and then get good coverage on their other titles at the end.

Yes people posting here are really dumb! It says the day will start with Zelda tree house and last throughout the day. They did this last year but it appears no one noticed it after the direct last year. If they spent the whole day on Zelda the whole plot would be ruined. It looks like it's just a longer direct in the tree house form  with Zelda starting it and other games shown throughout the day.

Except the press release specifically states that it will only be Zelda for the whole day.

"Nintendo’s kickoff to the E3 show happens at 9 a.m. PT Tuesday, June 14, when Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime introduces Nintendo Treehouse: Live, which will be dedicated to a day of live-streamed gameplay of The Legend of Zelda. This will be the world’s first in-depth look at the game, which will also include commentaries by Nintendo developers. The Legend of Zelda gameplay will be streamed from the E3 show floor via Nintendo’s channels on YouTube and Twitch, as well as on http://e3.nintendo.com. The stream will include game coverage, behind-the-scenes info and plenty of fun."

Of course, Nintendo will probably release trailers of other games on their Youtube channel and there are still 2 days left of e3 in which Nintendo could do other events they might still announce.

yep, I immagine a situation like: Nintendo shows at E3 720p 60fps footage (dunno if already confirmed to be 1080p or not but it's an example) , then, after a couple months, Nintendo has their NX event and announce that Zelda U will be a launch title following the announcement by showing some new footage running on NX at say 1080p 60fps , then people will be looking back at E3 2016 saying "Wow, I was really impressed by x specific part of the game, I wonder how good it will look on NX..."

It's definitely 720p and it's likely 30fps. No way the Wii U's running this game at 60fps. The latest screenshot we got was 720p with no AA. Don't see something like that running at a playable framerate when MGSV couldn't on PS3.

Yep, 720p/30fps is a given. It's impossible for the WiiU to handle this game at a better performance. Maybe on the NX that would be possible.

"Suddenly the Gamecube days don't look so bad. At least they had announcements."

does Nintendo really want the NX to succeed? E3 is the perfect place to build hype and they need it badly considering the sales of WiiU

10 months before launch, yet they can't pull enough stuff together to make up a conference :S

disappointing
