Forums - Gaming Discussion - Verified NeoGAF member has posted a bunch of NX leaks. Now updated with gimmicks, Luigi's Mansion and other stuff

I'm just going to keep my expectations low until Nintendo decides they're actually going to reveal the damn thing at this point.

Wonderful software company but very questionable hardware choices.

I am totally surprised that the "leaks" were made up.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic.

I think you are, but I can't tell.

Well, you could Crtl+F my previous responses to those "leaks" in this thread. Of course I am being sarcastic. That NeoGAF dude posted a load of nonsense that piggybacked on previous rumors. How the NX rumor mill works:

1. Start with a rumor that sounds believable to the majority of people.
2. Add a few new things.
3. Create a new draft. Keep the things from step 2 that were accepted as believable, remove the rest.
4. Add a few new things.
5. Rinse and repeat.

A positive side effect of that (for the "leakers") is that it creates truth through repetition. Eventually some things are taken for granted by the audience because many people have said virtually the same thing.

The screen controller comes up repeatedly because Nintendo has to have a gimmick, but the alleged innovation is obviously derived from what Nintendo did in the recent past. However, the slightest bit of common sense would let everyone realize that Nintendo wouldn't commit the same glaring mistake twice in a row. Nintendo is going to make mistakes, no doubt, but they are going to be new ones.

Funny anecdote: When Nintendo's Revolution was announced and still largely a secret, the most commonly speculated controller was a GC look-alike with a touchscreen in the middle. Why? Because the DS came out not too long ago and it had a touchscreen. At the time (mid 2005) the DS wasn't even successful and got outsold by the PSP. The Wii U isn't successful either, but it doesn't stop people from going with a screen controller for NX. On the bright side though, as soon as a screen controller is mentioned, you pretty much know that it's all made up.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

A Biased Review Reloaded / Open Your Eyes / Switch Gamers Club

Polaris? Nope, the console would have to be in the works this year for that.

At this rate, if only 1/10 rumors end up being the slightest bit true, we'll end up with a better console than the WiiU.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The screen controller wasn't a mistake, and it's not a rumor. It's coming back.

Well, this is new.

Read.

I feel like all these rumors are coming up because E3 is coming up so people are more likely to pay attention to any leaks from here on out.

I'm not saying this leak is real or fake but its only two more months until E3 or Nintendo's last chance to reveal the NX so I'm just going to keep my expectations in check until then.

Sweet I was right!

So, 10k turned to be not legit? Wow, I'm shocked.

NX must have a screen controller. At least in the sense of it being optional like Wii remotes on Wii U. It sounds like you don't believe they will focus on touchscreen controllers though. You think they'll drop it like a bad idea? Or you think that it might have it, but a real leak wouldn't be focused on it?

2.5 TFLOPS is a monstrous amount of power. Honestly for Nintendo's games that may more than enough for another 10 years like I said. You're going to have Nintendo games look pretty damn close to some of the CGI renders they've used in the past given the art style they like to use. You could probably have a Mario Kart game with character models close to this:

Their games will look gorgeous on that tech, and it kinda ensures a good number of third party ports since devs probably are going to have to make games for the XB1 spec (1.2 TFLOP) for the next 3-4 years minimum let alone PS4 probably.

The important thing is Nintendo make the NX an expandable/upgradable system like that supplemental add-on patent hinted at.

They can always release a 4K 14nm model in 2018 and give early adopters a way to upgrade if they want, that would be the smartest way to do it IMO.

So cute it's almost pitiful. nonsensically low power expectations and suggesting nintendo games aren't as demanding as others. you never change, wich will only make your meltdown better.
