Not really. TFA gets the advantage of China being a bigger market and a favorable exchange rate compared to 2009 in that country. Not to mention the higher ticket prices. And in other countries, like Australia, TFA is tracking behind Avatar by quite a lot (in local currency).

This will easily do 2 billion, though we'll have to wait and see if it'll have the legs to beat Avatar.



Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I hope it doesn't beat Titanic's total box office gross. For the love of god, a film like that only comes once In a lifetime. In five years time we'll already have two more star wars films.

3rd weekend cume is expected to be around $95-97M taking the total to 740-745 M range. A day will suffice to break Avatar's record as the biggest box office domestic gross. China is yet to open on 9th of Jan.
