Defensive much, why mention mk8? My comment didnt have anything do with it.  You bringing in MK8 to a thread about splatoon and Halo 5 is illogical.  My reasoning for why Halo 5 will still outsell Splatoon, despite lack of Japanese support, is sound, your retort is not.

Excluding mk8 it's still funny how comparable a new nintendo ip is (which many including you) wouldnt even break a million if not that much more to go head to head with he big Established halo franchise!

Me being wrong about Splatoon (and how much it would sell, again not part my original comment or of this thread) doesn't change my opinion about Halo 5 outselling it.

Finally some Halo 5 numbers

Apparently 5 million shipped by end of 2015... too bad we haven't sold through figures.

In fairness to OP, it's entirely feasible that it was overstocked heavily considering how high Halo usually sells for its launch window. Plus, anecdotally there were always way more than enough copies at any store I've been to. Not that I agree with OP on this one, just a quick response to the shipped numbers.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Also, it doesn't look like Halo 5 has any legs judging from retailer sites so this is still a race.  The fact it was *ever* a race though is a very, very grim statement about Halo's current status.

Also, to everyone who has said Splatoon had no competition, I've said this before but I'll say it again for ya:  you are not compelled to sign away your right to purchase one console when you go out and by another.  Many - I would say most - Wii U owners own a PC or an Xbone or a PS4 or some combination thereof.  Which means that Splatoon had to compete with all sorts of other shooters.
