Forums - Sony Discussion - Shuhei Yoshida States That "We ( Sony ) Have Work To Do" When It Comes To Releasing More "AAA" exclusive games.

This is what happens when you dominate. You get lazy. Hopfully MS can challenge them in the US. Maybe it'll light a fire under their butts like the PS3 days.

I love humble Sony. You can tell they aren't letting the sales get to their head. I hope PT becomes a reality.

I think it's pretty decent line up although who doesn't want more variety and quality AAA exclusive games. But if you will add those 3rd party exclusive, they have a lot of games for the PS4. Their track record last 3 gen has proven that they can deliver quality AAA games so it's fine by me, by the time I buy my PS4 there will me tons of games to play. Kudos to Sony for acknowledging it.

People see what they want to see. But "we" tell them what they want to see.

In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

Sony doesn't need to do anything. Just drop the hardware price by $50 this fall, $50 next fall, and $50 the fall after that if you feel like it.

This generation is a complete rout, they are just going to cruise to victory.

Nintendo can be counted on to shoot themselves in the foot several times, and Microsoft has never put in the work to build their brand in a real way in Europe or Japan (or maybe they have but the end result is the same -- they don't have a reliable audience anywhere outside of the US), which means Sony wins basically by default.

How have they gotten lazy? The first party games don't happen to be launching in late 2015, but they are still certainly there.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Ok. But so far it looks pretty decent.

Uncharted 4

Gravity Rush 2

The Last Guardian

Gran Turismo 7

Horizon Zero Dawn

Ratchet&Clank

Rigs

Unannounced:

Bends Horror Game

The Last of Us 2

MS would have to ramp it up 1000% to outpace this in quantity and variety.

The last of us 2 isnt a thing yet. Better not get ahead of yourself.

Even if it ends up being a thing, it won't come out for another 2 years. The people that left Naughty dog were really important and left a huge dent. The studio doesnt have 2 teams anymore... so whatever they do next, isn't coming anytime soon.

Whats Rigs? Never heard of it. Then theres GT7... who knows when that will come out. Gravity rush is super niche and i couldnt enjoy the original. Let's not even mention the last guardian. Hopefully it happens next year.

Horizon is a step in the right direction. They need more like it.

But from that list, i see Uncharted, last guardian (hopefully), Horizon, (Bend's game?) and Ratchet and clank (is this still popular?). If anything is saving them, its No man's sky.

Btw lets not degenerate this debate into how many X has and how many Y has. I don't care how many Microsoft have. I care that i'm not satisfied with what Sony has.

I do think they need more big studios. Having closed so many recently was definitly the wrong choice.

Sony does need more big franchises. On that front they have always been weak and have dropped established ones way too easily.
They can't depend so much on Naughty Dog and Guerrila alone. Even Santa monica has been slow with their output. Media molecule is basically an indie dev and Sony Japan is all over the place.

If they managed to foster 2 more studios like ND and Guerrila, they would be in a much better place. This also taking into account that Naughty Dog lost its ability to have 2 teams working at the same time so they are not as dependable as before. After Uncharted 4 we wont hear anything from them for another 2 years.

Sony needs studios especially for those off years.

Evolution is big as is Sucker Punch. Then there are 2nd parties like Quantic Dream and Insomniac.

Who left ND that made such a huge dent?

Kaz has already said that GT7 will be out before 2017.

Rigs is a PSVR game by Guerilla Cambridge that is supposed to be a lot of fun.

I'm sorry and this isn't directed at you really, but I'm so god damn sick of people bitching about "niche" games. People always praise Sony for having a varied lineup and then dismiss anything different as niche. Who cares? Bloodborne is "nice" and it's largely regarded as one of the best games to come out this year.

Anyways! Sony also has games from Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, and Dreams from Media Molecule on the way. I have no concerns over Sonys ability or willingness to pump out a strong lineup.
