Forums - Sony Discussion - Shuhei Yoshida States That "We ( Sony ) Have Work To Do" When It Comes To Releasing More "AAA" exclusive games.

Super excited to see what Quantic Dream's PS4 game is. Really liked both Heavy Rain and Beyond so I can't wait for the reveal at PGS.

Honestly, I think every company has work to do as well.

Even Nintendo, their exclusive lineup this year overall is meh, IMO.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Maybe, but Splatoon and SMM are the best games I've played this gen and beats out most stuff from last-gen as well.

Yoshi's Woolly World is also vastly superior to Kirby's Epic Yarn, no matter what the metascore says.

How many articles can you pull out of that one interview?

The PS4 line up is sparse? I'd say that was the case in the beginning, but now? Naw, it's plenty fine.

He never said the bolded.

"..When a platform's doing well, third-parties support it more. So from a pure software standpoint, there'll be more competition. When the platform's not doing so well, our games become more prominent, and we get larger market share within the same platform."

That really doesn't mean what you said it means.

I do think they need more big studios. Having closed so many recently was definitly the wrong choice.

Sony does need more big franchises. On that front they have always been weak and have dropped established ones way too easily.
They can't depend so much on Naughty Dog and Guerrila alone. Even Santa monica has been slow with their output. Media molecule is basically an indie dev and Sony Japan is all over the place.

If they managed to foster 2 more studios like ND and Guerrila, they would be in a much better place. This also taking into account that Naughty Dog lost its ability to have 2 teams working at the same time so they are not as dependable as before. After Uncharted 4 we wont hear anything from them for another 2 years.

Sony needs studios especially for those off years.

They have some. They just don't want to believe in them.

Legend of Dragoon could be huge. Wild Arms could be great aswell, but they need to go back to the style of WA3. Take inspiration from FFXV and Xenoblade if need be. Since they don't seem to be willing to invest on anything unless its open world.

Yeah, those would be great to have, especially WA. I need some more cowboy western feeling RPGs in my life... x ) Overall I feel that is really lacking on the PS4, and in general. There are big ones coming, but it'll be awhile before we get those.
