Forums - Gaming Discussion - Notch (Minecraft creator) has emotional breakdown to the Minecraft sell, ex-employees, life, etc. on Twitter

Some people here amaze me by their ignorance. He's just a human even though he has a lot of money, and he got that money by getting lucky, pretty much. Sure, he has the ability to improve his situation, but he seems like he doesn't know how to. He's lost and doesn't know the way out. If you don't know the way, it's very hard to do anything. And if he does know the way, well, it seems he's not capable of taking that road just yet. Either way, he's screwed for the moment, and doesn't deserve the hate he gets.

He sold Mojang because it became too big and he couldn't take it anymore. It was the only escape he saw, but it sure doesn't seem like it was what he wanted in the first place. Yes, you can't buy happiness with money. He's just a regular person who ended up getting a ton of money practically by chance.

At least that's how I see it.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Hey. He can always give all his money to me and go back programming if they feel so heavy.

Sure i feel for him. Hope he contacts me and gives me some of that money so i can feel with him some more.

Seems like a case of constant hangover/drunk depression. Really messes with your thoughs. He should cut down partying and sober up, then see if the sun shines any brighter. I'm sure it will.

Not much sympathy really, and if I had a tonne of money, I know how I would pass the time with hobbies and projects. Nothing extravagant and I would prefer for other people not to know - that's somewhere I have a bit of sympathy for Notch, he didn't ask for fame, but it seems as though he likes it from his PR and social media, just look at him here.

Feel for him? Of course not! He chose to be in the situation he's in at the moment, nobody forced it on to him and at the same time it is completely his fault he is still in that situation. If he wanted to do something else there's nothing stopping him but himself.

This!!!

As someone who has been given a lot in life and have still gone through depression and all those other feelings, I do feel for him. However he has all the money he needs and so he should really use it to benefit other people. Start a charity, create an orphanage or make a new game.

Based on the "assholes who MADE me sell Minecraft" comment, I'd say there a bit more to this story than that.

I would personally open up a new game studio and start churning out AAA titles. I'm sure there are programmers in Sweden who need jobs, and I'm sure there are some old Mojang employees who want to get the band back together.
