Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo and Smash's Latest DLC: Is Sakurai and Nintendo Going Too Far?

Is the DLC too expensive?

Yes 217 66.56%

No 109 33.44%

Total:326

I'll wait for a pack to buy.

Btw, costumes of heihachi and vf... Any thoughts on it? VF6 as a WiiU exclusive, bought from Sega Bayonetta style, anyone? ;)

It all started with Fire Emblem: Awakening. They realized how much cash they can get with DLCs and they are starting to do it for their biggest games.

For Smash I really don't care since I won't be getting it (maybe Roy at some point). They can make all the DLC they want, as long as they don't touch story elements of their games and only focus on extra characters, costumes and stuff like that I'm fine.

That's why I'm f*cking pissed at how they are handling the FE franchise...don't get me started on the stupid FE: If 2 games format...

The characters themselves are pretty cheap (especially compared to other fighters, so them offering a bundle if you want to buy everything is not terrible. But, i agree it isnt worth it.
I would stick to the characters if i were you.

It seems a bit extreme, especially the Mii outfits, and I wish there was some sort of bundle only for the characters, but I think that it's alright. Not as good a deal as Hyrule Warriors or Mario Kart 8 though.

The characters are on the low end of the average you would find in most fighting games so no, they aren't too expensive. Also, theres nothing making you buy them all. Just get the ones that you want to use...

I'm kind of out of the loop with other fighters and dlc. How do they usually tend to be priced. The only one I can think of it Playstation All Stars, and they handled that better, with 2 characters for the same price. I wish Smash would make a bundle like this too...

Agree with your 2nd sentence : )

Indeed, they are going too far. I'm not buying any of the Smash DLCs. Fuck Sakurai, fuck Nintendo and fuck Smash Bros.

I miss the days when you unlocked characters by playing the damn game, not by paying for each one. You want to make more characters once the game is finished? Awesome, give them for free or make them being obtainable by beating something from the game.

Sakurai has much to learn from people like Katsushiro Harada.

Just greed if you ask me, i just brought the mewtwo pack with all the mii stuff now i gotta pay half the price of the game for 3 characters an a stage. By the time all the dlc is released id have paid for the game twice

ive seen worse, so i dont think its going too far

Well, I have always been against DLCs unless they have a good content/price ratio (like the MK8 DLCs) so I think Nintendo have been a bit too far this time.

The average tends to be 5$ (Injustice, Skullgirls, MK9, MKX)
