Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I've accepted Wii U's sales situation

If Nintendo can't get third party games, they might as well go full mobile.

Not everybody likes the Wii U but it certainly deserves to sell more.

Nothing. Still the same. I still am waiting for an official Wii U price cut.

Me too, this is cheap because it's a dead stock, come one people have you forgotten that production 8gb wii u version has been abolished?Plus that this has skylanders,UGH...

We need a cheaper premium pack or deluxe set, this is how it's being called in the USA!:P

Yep. Nintendo needs to start dropping the Wii U down to $250 or less. They are being far too conservative with that console and its hurting them. When parents see a cheaper next gen console they'll opt for Nintendo for their kids on holiday seasons. Sadly, Nintendo aims for kids and forgets the memo. Theres no way they can outshine Microsofts Xbox One at $350 when kids want COD and Assassins Creed. Their battle has to be won based off of price.

I find it funny how Sony has already written off the PSV based on its sales, and yet it has still sold better than Wii U.

That's like a double kick to the testes.

except not really cuz it has good software.

Edit: hardware is usually a loss leader anyway.

The Wii U is now a *full year* worth of sales behind the GameCube. I don't think people realize that. It ain't catching the GameCube.

The gap between the two is widening too every month, not shrinking.

To realize what?We know that, and you keep repeating it!We don't need any comparison to see tha gc dominates  wii u,it's very rational and expected, since gc got one price drop of 50$ in 2002 and another one equal in 2003,wii u still at full price without an official and REAL price drop!

How do you mean? It's introductory price was US$349 and it was dropped to US$299 on September 20 2013.

Yeah,I know that and this is why I have put -REAL-  next to price drop...

It dropped to price that basic set/pack had,of which its production was ceased and remained basic sets/pack became dead stock,so that's not an actual price cut, there were  plenty of wii u units at 299$ all along...

I still see a lot of potential in doing a major revision to the WiiU gamepad that makes it smaller, sleeker, and pretty much a fully portable WiiU that connects wirelessly to the TV. That along with a fully revamped OS and special partnership to get TVii off the ground could make the considerable difference.

Though I don't think Nintendo has the cajones to do that.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Even worse to me 'cause I'm not enjoying the library.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I don't see why the wii u later years can't be its peak years. I still think the product re-packaged at the right price could do good numbers. Nintendo have lots of resources they could use to make the wii u an irresistible package. The main issue is that horrible over-sized gamepad. It's just not a good controller and doesn't feel good in your hands., I don't think the console itself has to change just the controller.

Let's not forget the console uses lower cost components than the 360 and PS3. The console is ultra cheap and there is no hard drive. The cost of the gamepad is probably the most damaging for both manufacturing costs and for damaging consumer appeal.
