This is how every Nintendo exclusive is treated. Personally it looks like a colorful indie.

Name 1 other Nintendo game in the same situation as Splatoon overall.

Around the Network

Well, I was genuinely surprised by how much marketing Nintendo had for this game so it will definitely exceed my original expectations..

I don't remember Kirby and Mario Party 10 getting the same treatment, but if you say so.

Exactly, We can go even further back. Captain Toad blew Expectations as well as Hyrule Warriors (in the west, not japan) and SSBU.

The only thing Nintendo fans were dead wrong including myself was SSBU would push alot of WiiU's. Unfortunately it kept it a little up the Normal baseline, nothing more nor less.

Because everyone knows the Wii U has no games and it's owners are going to buy desperately any "big" game that comes out for it.

I think it has the potential to sell well.
if it goes over a million(worldwide) before the years end, id be impressed.
Kirby having a hard time selling makes me question the Wii U's ability to sell anything that doesn't have a picture of Mario on the cover.
:(

In all fairness Kirby and the Canvas curse on DS only sold 720K accoridng to vgchartz on the DS's userbase, so the 150K on Wii U isn't horrible honestly.

I do think Splatoon will do fairly well, the reviews have been pretty positive, people generally enjoyed the testfire demos a lot and Nintendo is pushing the marketing pretty hard. And at a few of the local EB Games here they actually had Splatoon posters covering the outside windows! Nintendo never gets that kind of advertising from there here.

Not arguing with you, just wanted to let you know the game is defietly above 200k sold, shipment could currently be 300k-ish now

If you think this game will sell sub-million lifetime then you don't have a clue what you're talking about. The hype in the Nintendo scene is real on this one, and there is a lot of marketing going on. It is selling for full-price in America (not Europe) but I don't think that will hinder its sales much. The Wii U is short of a great online shooter and this game fills the gap nicely with an original concept. Everyone enjoyed the demo. I could go on, but suffice it to say that the game will sell well for a new Nintendo IP.

Hey hey, when you make a poll, make it more clear,I mean I didn't got at first that it refers to lifetime sales,so I voted thinking that the poll was about FW sales...!:PP:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P::P:P::P I chose the 500k option as a FW and the poll is about lifetime sales,so Ι downplayed splatoon inadvertently!:P:P:P:P

Because of the COMG thread. People have now to high hopes for the game.

Its not a matter of high hopes, it actually is doing well in terms of shipment. The shipment for Splatoon already puts it near the top of Japan's list for games (2015 games)

Anyone that thinks it's worth $20 is joking themselves.

While I agree the game should have been cheaper (in fact, all gen-behind low budget ninty games should never exceed $49), Im happy to reward this young dev team, as they are the future of Nintendo.   NOJ desperately needs influence to get back in tune with the west.
