Forums - Gaming Discussion - Stop Picking On VGC And Leave ioi Alone

God forbid people actually discuss sales on a sales website. The thing that bothers me most isn't that the sales are ~3 months behind while still advertising this site as a gaming site focusing on sales,

(...)

but people on these forums determining what other people come on this site for and if that is sales well they're irrelevant or in a minority.

Well, you are free to leave if VGC numbers have been the most important thing to you. If it's new sales numbers in general that you want to discuss, then you already know the few days of the month when Media Create/Famitsu and NPD numbers release.

The reason why you are in a minority is that most longtime members here have stopped a long time ago to anticipate weekly VGC numbers. By that I am not refering to the current state of things in 2015, but as early as 2009.

This is quite true. While I'll check the numbers if they were to release, I haven't been reliant on them for sales information for several years.

Many of my better threads were based off of VGChartz numbers. How can one construct a satisfactory joke without the numbers that no one trusted?

Maybe people trusted them more than they thought...

There's no point in this site I only come to check on the fabricated weekly sales figures but it seems they won't update anymore so there's no point in this site. End of.

Naw you should stay the community here is great

Eh, I kinda disagree with the thread title (not even gonna comment on the text in your post though bhr, it's wrong and incomprehensible like usual).

I completely understand why people are frustrated - I'm even more frustrated - especially after we assured things would get back on track but obviously haven't. It's really disappointing.

So I think it is important that Brett realises that the community is worried/annoyed/disappointed, I just think that that frustration should be directed constructively to Brett, because then something might change, rather than cluttering up the forum with endless threads.

yours post isnt look any better

what signs were you giving "especially after we assured things would get back on track"

was that from iois original post that things would get back to normal or were you given other information

idk why everyones worried that the numbers havent been updated or might never get updated i was always under the impression that the forums/community were the main draw for members yeah the numbers gotem here but the forums/community is what made them stayed

The numbers formula is the usp the site has, there is no way Brett would share it, hence the problems.

I'm wondering what the people who pay for Vgchartz are doing?

I don't mind the break it'd just be nice to update people on what's going on. We got confirmation the site was returning back to normal soon but it's been a month since then.

You're right. This gen is boring. PS4 will dominate, X1 will sell but be far behind and Wii U will struggle. Checking the software sales is sometimes interesting though.

I remember the times when the weekly sales were still updated regularly (which isn't that long ago). The discussions were first and foremost about how wrong VGC is going to be. So if the accuracy is questioned to such a degree, it's puzzling that there's suddenly so much demand to get those numbers. Especially because Amazon has surfaced as a quite accurate prediction tool for US sales while the rest of the world is an easy PS4 victory. And nobody cares about handhelds anyway.

This  is soooo right. The animosity every time the weekly numbers dropped really suck the life out of those threads. How many times did Brett have to explain the numbers were estimates within a 10% margin of error and people still bitched? Remember when the bar for PS3 was not updated on the front page and everybody spent weeks whining about it? Suff like that would have me not wanting to do sales either. Maybe we'll learn to have more gratitude for numbers.

You're kidding yourself if you believe recent VG Chartz software estimates are actually within a 10% margin of error from most real (non-leaked) numbers.

ioi's estimates aren't nearly that robust.

More like 30+%, 40+%, 60+% error margins.
