Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do "Hackers" do it?

Another day, another slow day on PSN because of DDoS.

I use the word hackers loosely, but lets just call them that.

Tactics are either with DDoSing (most common) or actually getting into the database containing mass consumer information (has happened number of times).

They sometimes say they want to make the ecosystem better. (Force companies to make the security better)
They sometimes say they want to right wrongs. (Force companies that they cannot treat customers like that)
They sometimes say they do it "for the lulz" and reaction. (Annoy consumers for reactions.)

I guess what I am trying to ask, how do you the consumer feel is the reason and can any of it be justified?

It's for attention and so people make forum threads talking about them and calling them hackers lol, it's just for you!

Well that wouldn't be wrong, it has been apparant at least with LizardSquad they do it for the reaction, but they aren't the only group. I'm not exactly mad at them "hacking" (just mildly annoyed), just curious to see if I can get convincing argument outside they are bored.

Also I am using quatations because that is the buzz word used by many to describe these acts.

If Sony or Microsoft or Nintendo for that matter are being DSosed by a group of less than 100 people than whatever these hackers are doing is justified because obviously their network is not secure enough ( This counts especially for Sony and Microsoft )

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

Why do developers and companies do reduce the value of their products by selling unfinished games. Do unethical things or cheat on their customers etc?

Because they can.

So simply do it because they can?

See the reason why developers and companies cut corners is to make something more profitable at the expense of the consumer. So the real reason is money for them.

Because they can I suppose. They have the skills, they have the free time. People are always looking for ways to pass the time.

See boredom is something I can believe, but the whole organizational behaviour seems like a lot more work to cure boredom.

Cuz they suck.

Season passes and dlcs.

I find that most trouble makers of the sort tend to do these kind of things because they never got any attention and want to get some in any way possible, even if it was bad publicity. TBH I kinda feel sad for them in a way.
