Forums - Sony Discussion - I plan on getting a Playstation 4

Okay I might have to look into Metal Gear Solid. Sounds a lot more involved than what I had originally perceived it to be.

I have the Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero remakes, I just have not got around to playing them yet.

I really enjoy the Resident Evil series and I definitely want to play more of the Resident Evil franchise. I would like to get a better understanding of all the Resident Evil lore.

Hell I even enjoyed the movies, even though they seem to be panned a lot on the internet. My friends and I think it is a blast to watch. It should not be taken seriously. I just like zombie movies in general so I find the zombie genre enjoyable to watch for the most part.

Yes the Metal Gear Solid games are extremely involving. Probably more so than most video games, if not the most interconnected series in gaming. It's pretty amazing and the story is phenomenal. As are the unforgettable characters. I think you will like it a lot! :)

Hmmm well the original Resident Evil was remade for Game Cube and later on the DS. There is the HD port that just came out. As for Resident Evil 0.... there was never a remake. It was on the Game Cube and I believe it was ported to the Wii but it was just that, a port. It is rumored to be getting an HD remastered version. It is very likely knowing Capcom, but doesn't Nintendo have rights for that one game? Originally it was going to be on the N64 believe it or not. Damn does that game look good back in the day! :)

Ugh you have no idea how much I hate those movies, yet I've seen them all! -_- Once you play more of the games, you probably will too! They have NOTHING what so ever to do with the games. Alice isn't even in the games, Umbrella isn't right, Wesker isn't right. They made Chris a criminal thug in one of the films. Dude is like fucking Captian America, how the hell does someone like that get thrown in the slammer? I mean WTF they destroyed everything about the games and does everything backwards. For example didn't they infect Jill? LOLOLOL What a mess! They did make Leon and Barry kinda ok, but that is about it..... They messed up EVERYTHING! Even those weren't done right and I was face palming. They don't even have a single Umbrella villain. Sure Albert Wesker worked for Umbrella as a scientist a one point but he killed most of them because they EXPERIMENTED on him! Ugh the films are so backwards..... I wouldn't be surprised if they put Wesker in a ballerina dress in the next film with how piss poor they are handling him........ :'(  Not to mention the story sucks where as the games have an AMAZING plot with great character interactions! :)

Retrospectively for me Peace walker (Played only the PS3 version which is an incredible 60fps port) is one of the best MGS game I have played. the game mechanics in Peace walker are so good (you can build an entire base, recruit mercenaries, fulton (steal) stuff (including mercenaries) from any of your missions, improve you equipment that you can use in your next missions etc).

That worked so well in Peace walker than it's being fully used in The Phantom Pain which looks litterally like a Peace walker 2 in that aspect.

But yeah this is an incredible serie, except for MGS4 that I didn't like at all. Thankfully Ground Zeroes was completely different than MGS4 and was great, while it lasted. If each TPP missions are as good as Ground Zeroes's with Peace walker incredible mother base management stuff then this game will be the GOAT!

Really? I hated Peace Walker for a few reasons. One was it was level based and every level I played only took me 3-4 minutes to complete. The stealth mechanics were a joke, seriously once I figured it out I was running through all the guards. I even ran up behind and passed one guard and it didn't notice me. I might have been maybe a meter or so behind him and this happened many, many times. The third was the cutscenes, ugh I can't stand that comic book style cutscenes. I didn't mind it in InFamous though, but NOT EVER in Metal Gear Solid. I tried playing it on Xbox 360 and it was a no go for me, it was so easy I was bored within about 30 minutes of playing. I had a very poor experince while playing that game. :'(

I would never call Phantom Pain Peace Walker 2. The two games look nothing alike in any shape or form. Sure it has a few similar mechanics but the short levels, glitchy gameplay, graphic novel cutscenes, and the whole portable experience will not be in TPP. Not to mention The Phantom Pain is looking to be one LARGE map just like most of the games in the series.

Hmmm what was it about Metal Gear Solid 4 did you didn't like? That one is practically my favorite and I thought it had the best gameplay in the series to date. Something that Phantom Pain is looking to top. For me personally Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (remake) are equally my favorite Metal Gear Solid games. They were perfect games imo, I loved Snake Eater as well. I definitely need to try Sons of Liberty again. plus for me it will ALWAYS be Solid Snake > Big Boss. After all Big Boss is a massive dick bag. I won't spoil anything but us hardcore fans know exactly what is going to happen near the end of The Phantom Pain. When Kojima said that this game is going to disgust people, he isn't lying. After all he said MGS4 will make gamers cry and damn did that ever happen to 90% of the fanbase! :)

Why do you have to wait so long? Why not get one now?

I do not know when I will get a Playstation 4; the end of this year is looking somewhat likely.

I plan on getting Bloodborne and Kingdom Hearts III (I know that Kingdom Hearts does not have a release date, however, when it does come out I am definitely getting it).

Are there other PS4 games that you recommend I should get?

My favourite genres are: Action/Adventure, RPGs and Platformers. I also like a good horror game here and there.

I do like shooting games - just not the military shooters.

Any suggestions?

Don't forget to grab (hurry!) P.T. from the PS store, it won't be available in a few days.

I think (not 100% sure) that you can "buy" it even with a free PS account and then download it later when you'll have a PS4. It's a free demo.

THIS!!!!

It's confusing as hell, but the experince is amazing. It 's being called a Video Game Trailer... Not a demo! LOL

The main problem of Peace walker, your reasons why you hated it, is mostly because it was originally a PSP game that had to be restricted in levels size, complexity and AI of opponents. And your critics are valid but I spent so much times (and enyoyed it) in the management of my base that I thought in the end that aspect of the game made the game overall better, with more interesting gameplay, than some others MGS games (like MGS 2 and 3).

I am not sure why I didn't like MGS4, probably the reasons many people didn't like it. I wasn't compelled to play (and finish) the game like the others.

If you haven't already played them, pick up FEZ and Brothers. Both offer incredibly unique platforming.

The PS5 Exists.

Bloodborne is the only good reason to buy one. But all cost together is too expensive. So its not a good reason.
Especially when my 6y old pc is still faster. For 100 bucks it would be an ok brick i guess.

It is a financial thing. I am a university student.
I have to pay bills and all of that jazz.

So the reason why I have to wait until the end of the year is because:
A. I get a Playstation 4 as some sort of gift.

B. I receive money over this period and buy the Playstation 4 as some sort of gift to myself haha.

Infamous: SS, LBP3, and Until Dawn come highly recommended.
