Where did you get the idea that the game will change because of the delay? As far as I understood the game is delayed BECAUSE they will stick to their initial ambition.

Aonuma: "(...) we have discovered several new posibilities for this game. As we have worked to turn these posibilities into reality, new ideas have continued to spring forth, and it now feels like we have the potential to create something that exceeds my own expectations. (...)"

That happens to every game. Ryan Payton, the lesser known MGS4 producer, said they understood what the game was after making and watching the trailers. A lot of developers also don't know what's "fun" about their game after working on it for so long, and they keep experimenting with new ideas. Nintendo just overastimated how quickly they can release the game, and the last statement is just obligatory.

That pretty much sounds like an extension of the idea and not a reduction of the scale, which is what you made it sound like.

They have new ideas. New ideas doesn't always fit with the original project.

Try and stay competitive?

2014 global sales

PS4-14 million

XB1-8 million

Wii U-3.5 million

It sold less than 1/2 of XB1 and about 1/4 of PS4 last year, I think most people have given up on the idea of Wii U selling comparable numbers to the competition. Nintendo is just going to ride it out and try making back as much profit as they can until the next console releases.

I think a price cut is going to happen regardless, maybe in September, which will be Super Mario Bros 30th anniversary so I could see a $249.99 Mario Maker bundle to celebrate that.

Looks like the gap will be even wider now.

We'll let's be serious, was Zelda really gonna do all that much? Maybe Wii U will only sell 3.2 million now instead of 3.5 million, not really a big deal.

Yeah, but sooner or later we have to understand the harsh reality, that Epona sometimes walked into trees in the woods.

Can't forget Nintendo's stock just shot up big time, thanks to the mobile news. This means they aren't in a rush anymore and will ride the Wii U out until '17 without question. Nintendo is now relieved not to quickly push out an ambitious project like Zelda U.

Even with Zelda U, '16 is looking barren and many expect the NX HH to release either that holiday or spring '17. Making Zelda U a cross gen title satisfies everyone, those invested in U and next gen launch.

I can tell you right now that a lot of people are worried that your solution to 'satisfy' everyone will become a reality. "Twilight Princess" coming to the Wii halted any chances the GCN had of dying slowly. Sega made the same sorts of mistakes for several generations (short changing the last system for the next big thing) and the last of their loyal fans left. We Nintendo fans want at least one exclusive Zelda title on the Wii U. A quick remaster a year later wouldn't bother me, but don't kill the Wii U early by delaying the Wii U version to coincide with the NX launch.
