No two FF games have had the same Battle system...in fact all of them are rather significantly different.

Also its been 9 god damned years that we have KNOWN this was an action +  traditional hybrid battle system type game.  Get over it for christs sake.

Really? Trying to tell me about Final Fantasy?

Final Fantasy 1-3 had the same turn based system. Final Fantasy 4-6 had the same ATB which is just a glorified timed turn based system. FF7-9 had the same ATB as 4-6. FFX had a static ATB. FF11-12 had the standard MMO Battle system which is just a fancy ATB system(hell, FFXII even had a loading bar). FFXIII and XIII-2 had a standard ATB with stacked commands. FFXIII-3 probably managed to hide its standard ATB the best but it was still no real time action gameplay. FFXIV again standard MMO ATB. Yep, everything up to FFXIV was basically turn based.

Then comes FFXV which is straight up action RPG. Real time action gameplay. So yeah, biggest change ever in any mainline FF.

I agree that it's a big change, but you're painting with too broad of a brush to get your point across. These systems aren't the same. To say FF14 is again standard MMO ATB is just so silly.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

The GCD in FFXIV is in a way like an invisible ATB bar.

In FFXV, what disappoints me is not the combat system, but it is how none of the characters seem to have a unique style. Besides Noctis teleporting, and the gunner guy using a gun, everyone else is pulling out swords from thin air and slashing away at enemies. Not enough unique weapons for each character, and magic spells is hardly used in these demos, and only Noctis can use magics.

FF fans are the hardest fans to please. They seem to always want something different yet seem to want things to remain the same at the same time. I for one couldn't be happier that the combat system and party system in FF15 is so different. And I'm willing to see how it plays out to see if the game is a good game and not what I think it could have been if it were made like some other final fantasy I played.

As for your exact concerns, have you played kingdom hearts? Or FF12? from what has been shown and what has been said the party system borrows heavily from those two games. using the support structure of kingdom hearts and the macro management if FF12.

The sooner you start looking at FF15 as a one character game (like KH) with support characters that give you exonaded defence/attack options if used skillfully the better for you. And the sooner you accept that they are taking the focus away from micro managing; scrolling through menues to use a potion when u can just run up to a fallen ally to heal them or hiding/taking yourself outta combat to regain strength, the better for you too.

I may be mistaken, but I feel the changes cab add to the actual gameplay depth of the game as opposed to suggesting depth while burying you in menu navigation. Now everything happens in realtime, or at least mist of it. And if the team attacks from KH are anything to go by and from what I have seen of FF15.... I honestly can't wait.

What....haven't we known this forever?  Its essentially kingdom hearts gameplay (which I am fucking stoked about)

You didn't see magic and a lot more variety in the combat because the footage is only from the demo. We barely have any footage from the full game itself, everything we've seen so far are from the demo which does not have some of the gameplay elements in it. Magic casting is removed in the demo so no one will be able to cast any magic in it. Weapons are also apparently limited in the demo as well as equipments. The menu also looks incomplete and is probably just placeholder menu for the demo.

Yes I play FF12. My concerns in FF15 is the lack of magic use from these demos. Is that how the full game will be like? I don't know but I'm concern about that.

Hence why I said "in these demos" I do hope the full game remedies my concerns.

Action RPGs can be just as fun and satisfying as turn-based ones. Even though, I'm totally with you there, TiagoCosta, about Lost Odyssey. Gosh, I wish they'd port the game to PC already! But they won't. It's Microsoft after all. =(

But I digress, so far, the battle system in FF XV looks really fun and promising. So I'm eagerly awaiting the Duscae demo so I can finally judge if it'll be my cup of tea or not.

At this point in time, I'm not really into turn-based battle systems. Yet I'm not into non-stop button-masher either. If the game can find the proper balance between stressful battle moments and rewarding exploration, the button-mashy battle system won't bother me.

Although there might be more to it than simple timing and mashing. When they finally reveal the magic and summons elements of the game (among other things, maybe), it's quite possible that there'll be more intricate aspects to it all. One thing is sure though, even in turn-based FF games, you would usually mash the confirm button against the regular mobs. Taking the time to think mostly during the boss or other special battles.

did you really just say that about the company thats been porting 90% of their exclusives to pc recently

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Oh ok. You did say "hardly used" though which isn't true since there is 0 magic in the demo.

I saw a fire spell used on a behemoth, in a tech demo. The only magic spell I've seen lol
