I wholeheartedly hope they don't make it open world :p I wouldn't mind if they added some larger areas and more player choice (similar to what they're doing Uncharted 4), but i'd hate for them to give up on its linear progression. One of the best parts of the game was how they used the narrative to introduce various types of encounters, which added variety to the gameplay. That would be lost if they just lumped everything into a single open world.

I would be OK with not sequel or with a sequel that doesn't directly continue Ellie and Joel's story. It might be hard though, the run the risk of pretty much giving us more of the same. Some centrals characters were care deeply for and their struggles for survival. Hard to say how they are gonna spice it up.

I still think the best way is to have done more single player DLC. One that is a prequel to the game, showing the time when tommy and joel were fending off on their own and some of time gap that was missing.

If not, I'd much rather have a new IP.

I haven't played any Uncharted games yet but already hope 4 is the last. I know it sells well but TLOU showed that ND is capable of doing other great games too.

Jak and Uncharted proved ND could make great other games after their initial Crash Bandicoot sales beast (4 games all did 5-7.5m)

We already got a last of us 2... It's called left behind. It actually pulls a Street Fighter IV, and instead takes place before the prequel.

I disagree as strongly as possible with that sentiment. Keep the Last of Us franchise as a linear tightly scripted narritive. Just keep developing the variety of gameplay options that the first one developed with open environments, a good variety of tools and mostly intelligent AI
