Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Does Kirby and the Rainbow Curse even have a chance of selling well?

I see it being like Kirby return to dreamland, selling decent than sudden  going up in price

Kirby could use a break. Soooo many other franchises that deserve the spotlight more than that pink bastard...

Huh? Kirby rarely gets games at all.

Yeah, right...

Punch-Out!! rarely gets games at all. Kirby has had like 10 in the last 5 years...

Actually, you're wrong. If you count this newest game, which isn't even out yet, that would make 5 Kirby games over the last 5 years. While that sounds like a lot, keep in mind that we see the same thing with Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, Madden, and many other franchises. The difference is unlike those games, the Kirby games are somewhat destinguishable from one another.

I can't see the average consumer today paying close to retail price for a 2D platformer not starring Mario, sadly.

You think rainbow curse is a platformer?

Sidescroller then.

This one will sell more than 1 million.

BTW: The european sales data for Canvas Curse are missing in the VGC database. It's a great game.

Doesn't really matter that EU is missing, they hate Kirby

I think you underestimate, as I did, Kirby's Japanese appeal. ;)

My thoughts is that it looks like a very cheap to make project, so those kind of sales would be fine for Nintendo.. Much like the toad game.

How you explain it?Yeah,it's a franchise with great games but is it having a special factor that carries so much to Japanese? Is kirby kawaii? Is this the special factor?

Side scroller isn't a game genre, wich takes the sense away from your original sentence.

Kawaii pretty much sums it up. ;)
