Forums - Gaming Discussion - Edit: Anita Sarkeesian is not helping with the development of Mirrors Edge; Rejoice!

Definitely never getting Mirror's Edge 2.

Anita is despicable. She should stay in Sweden.

While this petition is useless and makes gamers look even more misogynistic I don't want this woman near any game, let alone my most anticipated game of this gen.

How does it make gamers look more misogynisitic?

Reminder: Mirrors Edge is a game in which the protagonist is an average looking female of asian origin with no big boobs and wearing non sexy sportswear.

So games are suddenly supposed to conform to the idea there are sexist tropes. Just cause a game features a sexual character, or a pair of exposed boobs, it is bad.

Then surely drunk middle aged men is a trope we should avoid. Black Gangsters too. Gay characters are becoming popular in gaming, get them out, too many of them.

Developers have stories to tell. Sometimes those stories are set in a world that feature sexualised women. We shouldnt rip out the sexual aspect just because other games have sexual content.

Otherwise gaming would be boring, because GTA would have no franklin (black gangster) and no trevor (drugged middle aged man)

Look, I assume the team hired her because they thought her input would be valid and could help them make the game the way they want to make it, otherwise she wouldn't a part of the team. What's the big deal?

The big deal is there are more qualified people who arent trying to push and agenda and have experience of both equality ethics and game development.

Anita is literally a youtube commentor being given a job to infect games with agenda. Gamers dont want agenda. As evidence by the 7000 quick signings of the petition. We just want good games. Not games that sell us an ideology. We're not a religion and we're not open to accepting new religious or idealistic beliefs. We just wanna play good games.

I don't think you can speak for all gamers. Your idea of what a good game is, probably isn't the same for a lot of other people. Personally, I like games that have a feminist perspective, but I'm definitely not keeping you or anyone else from playing and enjoying the games you want. Games can be so many different and great things.

Just ignore her, the petition leads to more media attention and that's what she wants.

The outraged gamers are the reason of her success.

Exactly.

What if she's doing mocap?

You know, to have enemies in the game made after her.

So you can beat 'em up =p

The only possible good option.

I dont pretend to speak for gamers. But I have a pretty good idea of what gamers, or at least GamerGate want, or dont want, and that is a good game.

Anita's position is that she is a voice for females in an industry where females are excluded.

Well, I'm not really a big fan of bad games myself...and do you think a game with a feminist viewpoint can't be good?

I signed it because given the chance, she will turn the character into a Mary Sue.

If she remains on the development team, I won't buy the game. If the game flops because she's on there, she won't be called again. I don't want her anywhere near the developers.

If this is true, I feel like it would be best if Anita starts on a much lower level and work her way up if she actually has anything useful to contribute.

She isn't a feminist.
