Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Order: 1886 Dev Defends Bungie's Destiny: "Review Score Under 8 Is Ludicrous, Deserves More Just For Scope And Art"

Idk... it looks like we may have finally gotten to the point where shooting things is getting stale. It happened with platformers and other genres.

Shooters need their own Super Mario Galaxy, I guess.

Games fun - I'm enjoying it. 10/10 for gunplay & movement, exactly how it should be.
Story is kinda useless, I mean I dont understand a single thing that is going on.
Peter Dinklage's voice acting is.. well... shit.
Everything else I like. Playing with friends never gets boring, i've been craving a solid coop experience for a while now and this is it.

I think reviewers and the gaming community are starting to get bored with shooting things. It's been popular for a long time now and no matter how good something is, it gets boring after awhile. I think we're starting to see shooter fatigue.

No, they need their own SM64. Galaxy didn't change the rules like that game did. The thing is, what could be done? I can't think of anything they could be as revolutionary as the jump to 3D was for platformers.

That guy on GAF was correct.
If Destiny is barely managing to cling onto 75 meta, given the amount of negativity following The Order throughout the months, it is dangerously approaching Knack territory.

The Order will score better than Destiny. You heard it here first.

If it had gotten stale people wouldn't keep buying them more than anything else

Regardless of reviews Destiny will outsell other games, so will COD:AW, Halo MCC, The Order, U4, etc.

Games that involve playing the same board over and over and over and over again(some consider it grinding) to make forward progression dont sit well with everyone. Especially if it involves predictable PvE combat.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I say Mario Galaxy because it took what worked and made a pair of games that are... superb. You can only skin a cat so many ways but with enough creativity you can take the available tools and make something fantastic.

The order's gonna score 9+. It is gonna turn out to be uncharted good.

Fun core gameplay and PVP
Great Art
Lame Story, under developed world
Very Repetetive, lack of content

As someone who hasn't played the game, it sounds like something that could range from 6 to 8. Just because something is solid doesn't mean it deserves more then a 6. If you're using the full range of 0-10, a 6 is good but obviously very lacking quite a lot. Anything approaching 9 is a gem and 10 is a complete masterpiece.

As someone who can enjoy shooters but doesn't buy games just to shoot things (unless its local multiplayer), reviews have put me off the game. I imagine those who rated it a 6 are along a similar mentality.

I think RAD are paying attention to whats going on with review scores and terrified of the Orders potential reception.

I came in here to say exactly what the neogaf guy said.

It's going to be just my luck that The Order is probably going to score ATLEAST 10 points below Destiny.

Journalists don't use the full review score though.  They almost excuslvely use 6/10 to 10/10 for anything that's playable.

And how about we just compare Diablo 3's score to the one Destiny got.  Diablo 3 has a terrible story, gameplay that's worse than a lot of Diablo clones because lack of customization, so more repetitive than most in an already repetitive genre.  It's got an 9/10 Metacritic on PS4.  Why when it has the exact same flaws?
