Forums - Gaming Discussion - Once graphics is mastered what do you bring to attract the consumers?

Visuals are still a long ways from being "mastered."

Regardless of that though, there is lots that could be improved otherwise.
AI would be one of my favorites, and that's probably never going to be completed.

I shouldn't say mastered, what I mean is when it get's to the point where a game isn't bragged up about it's graphics anymore.

It was never about graphics to begin with. Yeah they help but games need to be fun at heart. I don't care If I think Lebron is right in front of me in NBA2k20 if the game is playing itself(having more fun than I am) I'm not going to like it that much.

Look at Nintendo. Apparently, they believe that we'll reach the saturation point in terms of graphics this gen.

They said that last gen.

They said that last gen.

My point is that they can say the same thing over and over again, and still be wrong. However, they are already basing their decisions around that belief.

I actually wish they'd stopped making (most) games prettier some time last gen. Really, I don't care for games to ever get prettier than the late PS360 gen gave us, even if it is technically possible.

The oppressive corridor-maps which showed up everywhere have got to go, though. FF XIII was the poster-child of this, but a lot of games had tunnel-like level design.

Metal gear solid will pretty much be the end of it all

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Just in case you forget about this lovely contraption right here, you're welcome. http://www.siliconera.com/2014/07/14/senran-kagura-2-pokes-fun-project-morpheus-oculus-rift-breast-vision/

New innovation like motion control, optimization of the cloud, and pushing the potential of online (Streaming, Social integration, etc.) to the max. I just don't think VR will catch on fire. The jury is still out on Amiibo, but it won't save the Wii U. NFC's potential hasn't been tapped yet, so it has that going for it.

I think we'll see a shift from physical consoles regardless as our favorite hardware developers transition to service providers; Then the only thing left we'll need to get to the store for is peripherals/accessories that plug into your Smart TV.

This is at least 2 generations off though. I think the innovation we'll be seeing will come in the form of accessibility first and foremost (again, not requiring a physical console) until it gets to the point where we have smart CHIPS augmented into our perception,

Sounds batshit crazy now, but sadly I only see our race relying more and more on technology for all the wrong reasons.

Virtual Reality that you can feel in...

There I said it! (if it wasn't said already)
