Forums - Gaming Discussion - Once graphics is mastered what do you bring to attract the consumers?

Story and Gameplay... as ever.

So this. Not sure if OP is serious. Graphics should never be a selling point.

Scope and dynamism, it's one thing to have impeccable graphics in a short linear game. It's quite another to bring it to bear on a massive and dynamic game world that is super reactive and offers a lot of variety.

Not that we are anywhere close to the limits of graphical evolution. We are barely outdoing top CGI from the 90s. We have a long way to go until we are playing Avatar in real time.

Very much this.  Developers still have to make sacrifices for the sake of visuals.  They are nowhere close to being able to do everything that they want to do.

Longer games with better stories and gameplay.

We're not nearly at the end. But I don't really understand the question. Every generation has all games at about the same level of graphics at a specific point in time, so they already have to sell on their other merits rather than their graphics. I doubt people prefer specific games over others(not ports) just because they have better graphics.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Go look at Yarn Yoshi and Zelda U. - Nintendo solved a problem that won't even affect their machine.

I don't like photorealistic games, because if I kill soneone, I might have guilt in my mind.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

By the end of this gen? U crazy

interaction and physics.

things breaking the way they should, reforming as they should. realistic militarized destruction. Companies should be spending time in ranges shooting things and blowing shit up. Knowing how much certain caliber rounds penetrate different materials. They should also be shooting rockets and tanks rounds at walls and small structures..

then move on to interaction.. Every object should be able to be moved, picked up, used or broken. there should be a lack of invisible walls, doorways, stair cases that are blocked.

edit:  in the future.. i know this wont happen this gen obviously lol
