I'm willing to bet there was SOME GAME(s) that had recently released and were selling really good still.

I know that you're trying to make a point about the PS4 here, but you're making more of a point about the collapsed japanese console market instead.

From release until September, the N64 had no games on it asside from its launch line up:

  1. Super Mario 64
  2. Pilotwings 64
  3. Saikyo Habu Shogi
Literally three games.

Oh yeah, only the biggest and first 3D game, which is a Mario, nothing at all...

Seriously ,the console could have sold on that and only  that for years

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Not really, we cant talk about the market health with such irrelevant comparison, there is no comparison possible here, since the PS4 has absolutely no exclusive for Jpan, and even considering  multiplatform games, the games are not so big.

N64 had THE Mario 64, the comparison is totally pointless.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

The Japanese console market may have shrunk but it is not dead as people keep on saying. If it were, every country apart from US, UK, France & Germany would have to be dead as well. People use such hyperbole it is ridiculous

Indeed, Japan market is as alive as it was during the last generation and we will soon see that, when we'll be able to make real comparisons between the first weeks of PS3 and PS4 with a big release

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

The japanese console market is collapsing or at least shrinking considerably, no point in denying that. Only a huge miracle would nowadays make any console consistently sell over 40k in Japan for several weeks in the summer. Had Mario 64 a lot to do with those N64 sales? Sure, but that still doesn't disprove the notion that the japanese market isn't what it used to be.

It's not totally what it used to be during N64 era of course,  but i dont think it shrinked from PS3 to PS4. There is no evidence about that for now. I'd see easily the PS4 reaching 8-9M, especially if the dragon quest come back is real

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

People underestimate Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil, Persona and Dragon quest,God eater,Mgs will save ps4

Super Mario 64 is bigger then any ps4 games released until now

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

You have to always look at where the market used to be before saying it's "dead", the Japanese console market is showing a clear downward slope.
