I think one of the cold, hard lessons Nintendo learned this generation is betting on a hardware gimmick can be a big risk.

It worked on the DS (touch) and Wii (motion), but I think it bit them in the ass with the 3DS (3D screen) and Wii U (GamePad).

I suspect they will be quite a bit more cautious next time out about exactly what is in the box, what it costs, and whether or not its worthwhile trying to base the entire platform around 1 basic idea.

For the most part, you and I seem to agree on what direction Nintendo plans on going next generation, If they really do plan on unifying their handheld and consoles by putting all software on both devices then what type of storage medium to you think they will use?

I think they will get completely rid of having a disk-based console and instead both devices will use higher capacity 3DS cartridges, perhaps 8-16gb being most common.
