Again....the entirety of 2006 is a freebie cause PS3/Wii weren't out. So really its August compared to March, 5 month difference.

Come to think of it, this isn't even a global price cut, just a regional one.

Sure I would feel annoyed. But I played the beta and those others have to wait another few weeks. Time is money and I spent my time with a X1 while they didn't and get to save money as a result.

The 360 was on the market and competing primarily with the PS2, NDS and PSP. It had competition on the market, it just had more competition when Wii/PS3 launched. Its similar to the 3DS pricecut from before when the Vita launched.

The difference is, Nintendo offered something to disgruntled 3DS early adopters. Im curious to see if Microsoft offer something to people in the same way.

Like MS (and us fans) cared about 360 competing against last gen hardware and handhelds.

This is a region specific, limited-time offer. Not a global price cut. When the bundle is done being made, all that is left is the launch price X1's.

No it's an official, permanent price drop to £399

i would bet on shit loads of money, the question is, is it really worth it?

With Titanfall, possibly. It might jus tbe the shot in the arm that Xbox One needs.

FIFA though? No. Not at all.

Oh, guess I read some wrong news sites. Still is far from a global price cut, which people really shouldn't be comparing it to 360's first.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Blah blah blah gpu, blah blah blah desperate moves....

I'm in with this bundle !!

See. LOL. This move will work. It will sell Xbox Ones. Lots of people are jumping at this.

It will sell a few, but not near the extent you think, and it will still get outsold weekly by ther ps4.

Who caaaares ? We will be playing Titanfall ! You guys enjoy Cod Ghost....whatever...

Yes because COD is the only game on and coming to ps4 right? Who cares? You know this is a sales site right?

Titanfall is the most anticipated game since E3 so yes we shall see the sales.

if you want to bet on Infamous and some digital distribution games...be my guest... We'll see.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

They're probably doing it in the UK to test how well it does, if it matches/beats PS4 sales, expect it WW quite soon (E3), if doesn't move numbers significantly, MS will just wait until the unit is more cheaper to produce to cut the price

Games stop at launch?? Uncharted and all sony's other studios games are coming. PS4 will still outsell x1 with or without titanfall. MS needs titanfall, Sony doesn't. Sony makes their own games and doesn't need to poay for third party deals. Many games are the most anticipated at e3....it's anew IP on a system with 3.3 million untis in homes..... Libraries sell systems not one game.

Sony has more AAA games coming this year then MS. Drive club, Uncharted, The order, Infamous, MLB the show, Deep down...and more to be announced. Games are not an issue. No one games turns a system around libraries and the value proposition do.

The GPU in BF4, Ghosts, Tomb Raider etc isnt down to GPU. The reason is a the developers have told you. The SDK being behind and specifically the ESRAM size. This month We have new SDK that allows developers to cleverly tile the information, COMFORTABLY allowing the developers to do 1080p native. Now in the future as devs use more effects, PS4 will probably have more effects. But it wont be any more noticeable than the difference between PS2 and Xbox games.

The ESRAM is small, but fast. And the new Tiling technique will allow it to have much more relevant data than before. My guess is it was meant for launch games but thats what the developers say MS were behind.

The devs never said any such thing, also you cannot expect devs to come out and say, hey we are selling our game on X1 but the gpu is weak..

Every game comes  down to the GPU the x1 gpu will struggle even more to push 1080p which IS very GPU dependant., It is obviosu you know little about the heardware. This will get worse as next gen engines get more demanding.

Rubin also told Edge that it would be wrong to suggest Ghosts is confirmation that Xbox One is a weaker console than PS4.

"It's a much more complex answer - there's so much to it, it's a balancing act when you get into optimisation - we need more time with it all, basically," he said. "It could be years from now until we get to the point where we feel like we've maxed out what we can do on both platforms.

"We might get more resources back at one point or better ESRAM utilisation. And that could make things change dramatically for the Xbox One, for instance. It's a long complicated road that will take years to develop, and I think at the end we'll have games looking very similar, usually, on both systems."

"On the PS4 it's very good to have the fast memory. Everyone is really happy about that," Torok said.

"We are not at the stage right now to go in and optimise on each platform specifically. We want to make the game and the whole engine run on everything, with all the features and bells and whistles, and then just optimise, optimise, optimise," Torok continued.

"I don't see a major power difference. The memory is very different but I already said that before. Pure computation power, if you just measure that, there's no major difference."

Xbox One – ESRAM & 720P – Why It’s Causing A Resolution Bottleneck – Analysis

"32MB of ESRAM was unfortunately the most they could squeeze on to the APU’s die, without starting to compromise the amount of GCN cores or CPU powerformance on the Xbox One to the point were having the extra memory would have been a waste of time. Microsoft’s previous console, the Xbox 360 used GDDR3 memory, this ran at 1400MHZ on a 128bit bus. In addition to this 512MB of GDDR3, the Xbox 360 also had 10MB of eDRAM, providing a total of 32GB/s between the GPU and the eDRAM. This memory gave the Xbox 360 basically “free” Anti-Aliasing along with other graphical effects.

With the Xbox One, this isn’t the case – and with many gamers expecting and demanding 1080P for their next generation titles, it appears that the 32MB of ESRAM is simply insufficient to meet the needs."

Is there anything games developers can do to help get around these issues, well unfortunately it’s going to require the developers to get used to working around the limitations. One problem developers have spoken about is having to manually flush the ESRAM. Microsoft supply the Xbox One with its own memory compressed render targets. These are very similar to what has already been working for the Xbox 360. They argue that by using these render targets, in conjunction with ESRAM and DDR3 developers can work around the ESRAM. The problem is that with today’s multi platform environments, especially with the rather commanding lead that PC’s and the Playstation 4 already have in terms of ease of development, how easy will this be to implement. It’s far easier to just say “well, let’s aim for 720P for the X1″.

As it turns out MS have updated the SDK and taken care of it for the developers.

ESRAM was always the issue. Not the GPU as to why we have not seen same Res as PS4 so far. Like I said PS4 will likely be a little better. But even before MS changed the SDK to be better developers like The Witcher 3 guys ( awesome graphics blokes ) even say theres not much of a power difference.

But Im sure you'll twist this into something.

Not a single bit of that says anything about the GPU gap. Devs are not going to come out and say the PS4 is a lot more powerfull they are truying to sell their game on both systems.

Again, I am still waiting, where does any of thsat debunk the 40% GPU power advantage? It's PR. Hideo Kojima also said there was little difference....Now his gaem is 720p on x1, 1080p on ps4. You need to learn PR.

The irony is, the witcher will be running at a higer res then x1 as well.  By then the new SDK will be in full force, it cannot make up for a weaker gpu. Same with watchdogs.

Really don't like your ignorance of X1's 2014 offerings, both digital and retail. And it isn't so much about numerical superiority, but games that are generating more buzz, get more people talking, etc.  Games like Project Spark, Titanfall, Halo....blockbusters and games that do things differently then what we are used to, those are worth noting then games with a mere next gen facelift.

By the way, don't say Uncharted until its actually announced....and confirmed for the year.
