Both Ps4 and Xboxone will sell 100 Million Unit

Forums - Gaming Discussion - Both Ps4 and Xboxone will sell 100 Million Unit

The sooner you guys realize that consoles will not sell anywhere near the amount you think the better. The gaming landscape is changing too fast. I still predict Sony will be making steamboxes in a year or two and Microsoft well they will just get out of the console arena because gaming will be at a totally different level come a year or two. Consoles are sooo yesteryear

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

Price makes all the difference. When PS3 was 600 or even 500, it was not being bought. So that logic goes out the window. Price has a major impact as the Sony seen with the PS3

?? Facts, please research before posting. The ps3 had a bigger launch and outsold what the 100 dollar cheaper xbox 360 did in it's launch year.

I'm starting to think you are very new to this. It only was a success when they cut the price in 6 months.

First week sales. 86,742

Wow you are impressive. I said they didn't do good until after the price cut. I was right.. Yet you link me to some site that used this site. I linked you to worldwide sales. It was the price that killed it. I'm done talking to you.

You're void of facts. I just post month after month of sales, yet you link me to a 14 month sales comparison that uses this site. MY god.

These converstions have got pathetic. You always have to be right even if you change the topic of the argument in the first place. You are a complete contradiction. First 12 months both consoles where dead even. However if you look at sony's first 6 months like I said, you would see they sold very poorly.  However You won't, you go off and find some random nonsense that has nothing to do with our original conversation. Have fun with that.

Sony's first year 6,017,487

Xbox 360's first year 5,933,110

Almost identical, without blueray. Remember PS3 was the cheapest blueray player on the market. XBox 360 didn't cut price in it's first year, they didn't cut price for 20 months (http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/08/07/xbox360.price.cut.reut/index.html). Sony did, Not only that, Sony just came off of the PS2 which sold 155 million unites world wide, to XBox 25,000 units. WHO TOOK, WHO's market share?

Like I said above, I'm going to ignore your posts, yesturday a guy called you out on the exact same thing i I'm. You change you original argument to back your view. It's called confirmation bias.

Good job using xbox second year compared to sony's first. Ps3 first year > 360.

Dude I'm not sure if you know this but you can find all the sales on this site. you are looking very ignorant.

Nov. 26th 2005 First sales came in from launch of xbox 360 ( 360 launched in Nov. 2005) I'm Making this easy for you.

First week 360 sold. 350,847

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/38683/Global/

Nov. 25th 2006, (One year from 26th of 2005)

360 sold 5,933,110

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/39047/Global/

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nov. 11th 2006 (ps3 launched Nov. of 2006, so it's impossible I'm using 360's second year)

First week sony sold. 86,742

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/39033/Global/

Nov. 10th 2007 ( One year from 11th of 2006)

Sony sold 6,017,487

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/39397/Global/

------------------------------------------------------------

See if you actually hit the links I provided, it's a catalog of sales from all the consoles from this site. All you have to do is look to the right and look at the sales of each console, when you find the console your looking for, look all the way to the right for combined sales.

Now I don't know how much easier I can make this for you.

This will be my last post. I'm not teaching a class on VGchartz and shouldn't have to.

If you need someone to go slower and give some more explanation, Please ask someone else.

This is delusional. No device this generation will reach 100 million units sold lifetime. Not even the PS4.

First sensible post I've read here.  I'm done with this fanboy fueled crap though ...

Seems reasonable considering growth in the overall market should be anywhere from 10-20% not sure if xbone will make it that high, it doesnt have quite the global reach as sony but 70-80 million for xb1 is certainly realistic.

There's no big casual attraction that the Wii had in 7th gen for either system. And the PS2 controlled the 3rd party market in gen 6, had US dominated and was on the market for 12 years. Neither consoles fit the criteria to hit the same level as Wii or PS2.

Agreed.

Not only that, but, no matter if people like this or not, overall videogame console (home + handheld) business has been declining since 2008. And this is not only because of "the end of a generation", it´s also due to the lost of millions of "casual" consumers / family games consumers.

For both consoles reach those numbers we should expect the market to get at least a little rise or keep its 2013 status. Unfortunately, companies are miserably failing in getting new consumers, because the average "casual' gamer is now way more interested in tablets, phones and Pc´s  than game consoles. The decrease in sales of such huge series like Just Dance and Wii Fit shows that.

There´s no reason, at least for now, to think that business will have a rise in 2014 and beyond. So I dont believe either device will reach 100 million, although I see Ps4 getting very close. If Sony comes up with some interesting (and cheap) idea for the casuals, it may reach it.
