Yoshi has his own franchise. There are a couple of Yoshis that are specific in the series. There's the one that caught Baby Mario, and there's Star Child Yoshi, who was a baby when Mario was a baby. It's likely Star Child Yoshi that we play as in Smash Bros, as this is the Yoshi that Nintendo refers to when it speak of Yoshi as one character. In fact, in Brawl, the logo for Yoshi is an egg, not a mushroom, indicating that it is indeed Yoshi franchise Yoshi and not just a random Yoshi.

If Nintendo added a 4th character from the Kirby franchise, I'd see the likelyhood going something like this:

1. Prince Fluff (star of a recent and very successful Kirby game, would have unique fighting mechanics from Epic Yarn, has more recognition)

2. Adeleine (has a bigger fanbase as far as I can tell, plus some unique fighting mechanics with the paintbrush)

3. Gooey (sidekick from Kirby's Dreamland 2 and 3, part of the race of villainous Dark Matter that chose the side of good, would have unique things he could do with his tounge)

4. One of Kirby's animal friends, most likely Rick (most well known animal friend, instead of inhaling can move with his mouth open to eat people which would be a big game changer in a SSB game, can you imagine if Kirby could swallow you just by holding down a button and walking into you?)

5. A real villain, possibly Magolor (Smash needs more villains, Dedede doesn't count, he's on the side of good more even more often than Bowser is, Magolor is recent and unique)

6. Knuckle Joe (has already been an assist trophy, has appeared in many games, has a variety of attacks, has a bit of background in that Metaknight killed his father)

7. Any number of alt costumes (Masked Dedede, Galacta Knight, stuff like that)

8. Bandana Waddle Dee (he doesn't have a canon name, is seen by most people as just another Waddle Dee, and King Dedede can throw Waddle Dees which would make matches very confusing, plus how would he fight? They could give him a spear I guess, and a parasol, but there's already a parasol item...)

But yeah, I try to be a cool guy when I can. I just like to analyze things a bit deeper than most people care to, and can come off as more serious than I actually am. :P

You're one of my favorite users on here so you're cool. Honestly a major reason I joined the site, you make the place a lot friendlier and fun for Nintendo fans.

I try! keep staying on here, i made tournies in the past here. (mk7+kiu). I plan on doing mk8 which will be maybe 2-3 times weekly, and SSB4!!!!

Yes I believe he will return but I wish he wouldn't. I used to think MetaKnight was a cool character in the Kirby games and show but damn was he annoying as hell in Brawl. It really made me hate him. If he is added they need to nerf most of his moves... and just get rid of his tornado move, people spam that move way to much.

Yes, he'll return and I bet he'll be revealed in Sakurai's "pic of the day" on whatever day Kirby Triple Deluxe launches in the West.
