Forums - Gaming Discussion - Where have the puzzle solving and exploration gone?

The question is, why have all the good puzzle games gone to handhelds and indies. The last AAA console game I played that had decent puzzles was..... erm.... ugh... AC2 dungeons and logic puzzles. There must be more... Portal 2!

Well at least exploration is still kind of there, though a lot less and easier with all the pointy arrows pointing directly at things.
But yes the puzzles are gone. That's why we need a Soul Reaver 3 God Dammit!

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

That's exactly why I love Zelda games. Puzzles and exploration are way more satisfying to me than just killing enemies. But unfortunately it's about a million times easier to make a corridor and fill it with baddies than to craft a devious puzzle.

Puzzles in action adventure games are usually a nuisance. That's what keeps alot of games from being considered greatness.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker are that in spades. Pikmin also has a good bit of that.

Actually its kinda like 3D platforming, if you want it, try Nintendo.

But you forget, none of them have guns and so don't count as games.
