Forums - Sony Discussion - Vita design sucks compared to the PSP

They should get rid of buttons... >_>

Yeah I wish buttons were a little bigger than they actually are.
Also RT/LT from dualshock controllers should be placed next to LB and RB buttons, instead of having to use touch controls. That and the fact that there is no L3/R3 makes the game control far from PS3 games

You can say what you want, attack the vita, but it won't change the fact that that's not a FACT

Yes it is.  When the buttons are so close together it's impossible to press the triangle and x buttons at the same time with your thumb without pressing all four buttons at once and that you'll atleast once touch the right stick in one of multiple plays when the right or left stick in regular play when that stick isn't required points to that.

Those right there are facts.  Problems that the PSP doesn't have.  The opinion is that these problems bother me, though they may not bother you.  The fact is that they exist as I've explained it.

The PSP analog nub is difficult to use at its location.  That's also a fact.  The opinion on that is that I don't mind it as you can actually hold the system differently to grip the system properly while using it.

Your eyes need to be fixed.

PSP design sucks compared to Vita

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

to me it's very confortable i just have difficulty with using the touch panel in the back cause i have small hands but most of my games dont use it.

but that picture shows an awesome difference between the psp screen and the one on Vita, man i love that sexy screen =)

I thought PSVita was pretty good when it came out to be honest. Little better than PSP and much better than any Nintendo DS to date.

However once you have Nvidia Shield in your hands nothing else compares in terms of comfort.

Except it's weight... more than double of the OLED-Vita, nearly 3 times the weight of the Vita 2000.

I hope, the Nvidia Shield 2 will be lighter.

You do have a point as it does have a substantial heft to it. Im a fairly big guy with big hands so the extra weight is hardly noticable but its there.

The whole protability aspect of Nvidia Shield is quastionable at best...while it is a gaming handheld, its not really where it excells.  Now with console mode and 1080p streaminng updates, its more of living room console extension for your PC gaming than a portable android handheld

The d-pad and buttons are designed like that so you can place your thumb right in the center and tilt it in the direction you want. The spacing of the buttons and the d-pad directions certainly isn't something to complain about in my eyes because there isn't anything inherently wrong with what they did.

Analog placement is not a problem for me, so I guess your mileage may vary there. My thumbs do have to lie on top of the sticks in order to use the d-pad and buttons, but there is enough resistance where I won't ever input something from the analog sticks when I didn't intend to. It also helps that I don't have to move my thumbs around much due to the aformentioned reason, so there is little chance of input error there.

The only real problems are the grip of the system and the PS button, Start/Select buttons. They are too annoying to press and the form factor of the Vita causes hand cramps after about an hour or two of play time. But these have been addressed with the 2000 model. Also I wish the shoulder buttons had more of a click to them and didn't feel smushy like how they are now. In regards to other problems with the Vita, those damn memory cards...

Errr... i wouldnt go that far.

The PSP is better in wich its lighter and more portable. The Vita is bigger and at times i do think about it as a little brick. But, on the other hand, the analogs on the Vita are MUCH better by far, and theres 2 of them.
Yeah i like the big buttons on the PSP aswell, but the Vita ones work just as well. I guess its the price to pay for a bigger screen. Looking at it though, they could have used the lower bar that says PS Vita to place some of those start, select and PS buttons freeing some space on the sides. But oh well... its not something that bothers me. The Vita works perfectly well for me.

Gripes with my vita: Buttons need to be bigger and less clicky / more squishy like psp
right analog didnt feel as tough but i fixed it with a simple tightening of the screw
otherwise love the oled though 540p games look better than on my vita than most games on xperia z

It looks like almost exactly the same except for the analog stick on the right.
