Nintendo Australia has announced that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y sold over 100,000 in it’s first weekend on sale. For Australia that’s a pretty good amount of games sold.

It’s so big that  Pokémon X and Y has broken the record for the most amount of games Nintendo has sold in the fastest time. The previous record holder was 80,000 copies of Pokémon Black and Pokémon White – but that was over the first week.

Pokémon X and Y sold more than this on the first day alone. 

Considering the small user base of the Nintendo 3DS compared to the Nintendo DS when Black and White were released, that’s impressive.

Since launch the game has been consistently sold out, that soon should change that as Nintendo Australia will be receiving more stock to fill those shelves. Have you had issues finding a copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y?

It was sold out in retailers for quite a while after launch day, hell it took them 2 weeks to fulfill my online preorder at Big W. Gosh, you'd think they would have gotten more stock in preparation.

fuck yer, i got me Y and a limited 3DS which I will never open so who knows why I bought it lol.

I saw many people buying pokemon day one in western sydney. Bogans, asians and those dudes with black shirts and long hair were all lining up to buy it at eb games. Not surprising it did well

I bought wind waker and pokemon at big w. They were $10 cheaper than jb and eb

I always buy online and I buy from the cheapest retailer. Big W happened to have Pokemon X/Y the cheapest at launch. 

 Also Big W has been absolutely shitting all over EB and JBs prices for 3 years now so I have no idea why you're so surprised.

i brought pokemon y on launch day, everywhere was sold out so i had to buy it at EB got them to price match. I visited at 10am and they were already sold out. First game ive bought from eb in years. Big W and K Mart are ALWAYS cheap

EB only just restocked, I think they were completely sold out in 2 weeks or so. Definitely need to keep it stocked for holidays, it will be a huge seller for Christmas presents. Its also at #16 and #18 on the digital bestsellers here
