Forums - Gaming Discussion - Mass cancellation of Xbox One pre-orders?

http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/10/30/cod-ghosts-720p-on-xbox-one-fans-want-to-cancel-pre-orders/

Looking at twitter it seems like a lot of Xbox gamers are unhappy over this. Not just the fact that COD is 720p on Xbox One, but the hardware implications this has and the fact that MS lied to them.

I highly doubt this will have a major impact on the overall numbers (same thing I said with the "apparent" mass cancellations of PS4s after WATCH_DOGS and DriveClub were delayed).

We'll know it all very shortly, though.

Yup! but in the meantime, all this pre-launch hype and drama is always entertaining.

I think they completely underestimated how far this information would spread. Even talking to non-gamers around my age they have heard the same stuff about how much weaker the XB1 is, and how games are looking worse.

They should have found a way to be more upfront about it.

With Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc etc.... Word of mouth now spreads faster than EVER before.

I managed to convert my best friend on 360 to PC, he was a typical dude bro but he has heard about the initial DRM and 720p scandals. He now games on an alienware rig. I don't think it will have major impact to the general audience/casual crowd immediately but what word of mouth will do in future we will have to wait and see.

you gto to be a stupid gamer to cancel your preorder cause the launch games are rushed and don't meet the 1080p. Seriously what have gamers become. What happened to simply enjoy a game regardless on how it looks.?

In the same logic you can ask what the future holds iif games are showing this much difference in multiplats at launch already. PS4 can do it at launch, why not xbox one?

Its not being a stupid gamer, but rather being a smart consumer with standards. $500 for a console which doesn't garantee 1080p is not justified the price, $300 maybe.

You can say xboxone full potential will be unlocked later when the devs familiarised themselves with the system but that goes for the PS4 too.

Gamers have always wanted the same things. The best games of the type they like and those games to look the best. Nintendo gamers are not immune to this, Sony gamers are not immune to this, and neither are Microsoft gamers.

Multiplatform games with _obvious_ deficiencies on a certain system are going to sell less on that system.

All this crying over pixels is fucking pathetic.

Or you know, if the games are better later, they can buy it later...

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
