Ouch, Project X Zone bombed. Lol at those who thought that it would do better than PSASBR because of the cast.

Not sure if serious... but relative to budget and marketing, X Zone did a good deal better than PSASBR first week.

I don't think we know anything about the budget of either game.

It's a reasonable assumption that the Sony's big holiday game with HD graphics, two versions, and a fairly robust ad campaign had a higher budget than a SRPG for the 3DS that has sprite based graphics, and voices that hadn't been translated to English.  We don't have detailed budget proposals, but I can easily tell that that PSASBR cost more than Project X Zone in the same way I can easily tell that Juno cost less to make than Man of Steel without seeing their budgets.

In no way does that mean that PXZ didn't bomb.

*sigh*  To put things in perspective, Nintendo required Fire Emblem Awakening to sell 250K to continue the series.  So we can safely assume, since Nintendo enjoys making money, that 250K is well above the break even point for Fire Emblem Awakening.  It seems reasonable to assume that Project X Zone had a similar budget as they share a similar style of gameplay and a similar visual style.  Considering Fire Emblem had a bit more marketing, a smattering of cutscenes, multiplayer mode, etc etc, its budget was likely higher than X Zone.  So, it seems reasonable that 250K would be enough to ensure that Project X Zone was a worthwhile title.

If our figures are accurate, with the US release, X Zone has sold about 210,000 copies overall.  If 250K is the point where the game becomes worthwhile, then we're about 40K away from that point without any European sales, without online sales, and with only a week of sales from the US.

So that seems to me a fairly good rationale to conclude the game has not bombed and is on its way to making a decent profit for its company assuming it hasn't yet.  Now, do you have any rational thought process behind your opinion that the game was a flop besides arbitrarily deciding that the 50k is a low number and a group of imaginary people who said this would outsell PS All Stars?  Because, if not, you're just trolling.

Global SW is up. By this time we should almost be getting the next week's numbers already.

It seems TLOU has been adjusted up since the thread was started.

this week too actually. TLoU is #1 in the US and in fact is now the 2nd best seller for the year. It might even take the #1 spot next week, it it remains above Animal Crossing by similar numbers

360 has actually been increasing Week on week in the US since the Last of Us released. PS3 got a boost in US on the release but numbers are now back to what they were before.

Wow looking at global software top 10 it's like Japan took over the market again. Any reason for all these new releases in Japan this week?

Western countries buy a lot of games digitally.

Also, GoW A outsells GoW J in overall sales this week.

The American flag on the box art is worth 2 million sales at least.
