Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is the XBox 360 worth 99 Euro just for the exclusives ?

You'd probably get a better deal if you bought second hand. I got a PS3 for $150 with 5 games (skyrim, GT6, UC3, BO2, SR3)

What exclusives? Halo? The JRPG's have all been ported to the PS3 except blue dragon and Lost odyssey wich are average JRPGs. Vesperia is the only gem in there, and theres a chance it might end up ported to the PS3 aswell.

Theres little to no exclusives worth having.

Vesperia was actually ported to the PS3, but only for Japan

I know. :) I meant the localisation.

Btw OP, definitly get a Vita instead. Theres more exclusives worth having, besides beeing an awesome piece of kit and having huge psp and psone libraries. Im actually making this post from my vita.

I'd say yes but then I love Gears Of War and Halo which those 2 franchises alone are worth it if you're into shooters. In my case the PSV would be another device I'd never use like my PSP and DS Lite.

buy a vita-no need to support a dying system.

on the other hand, 99 for 360 is a really good deal.

Doesn't the 360 out sell the Vita every week despite its dying status, just food for thought.

Theres nothing special about dead rising. Its basically a more limited dynasty warriors with zombies. Im sure its fun to play, but its not a must-have.

Now that you mention it, aren't there some dynasty warriors exclusive to 360 or I am mistaken?

At this stage in the game it's probably best to wait for next gen and save the 100. If Jrpg's are what you like, the PS3 has been the king of this genre this gen.

Ni No Kuni is the best jrpg this gen IMO. Valkyria Chronicles is a close second and then Demon Soul's IMO.

Then you have the Tales of series which is pretty much exclusive to PS3 lately with Graces F, Tales of Xillia 1 and 2, Tales of Symphonia HD collection. The Tales of Vesperia fan translation is 96% done as well.

There is now heavy support from SE with FF 13 series, FF14, Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 exclusive (chances of an inevitable 2.5 release being exclusive which will lead nicely into PS4 KH3)

NIS America has also been great this gen with the Atelier series, Disgaea
series, Ar Tonelico, (very underrated jrpg series) and others.

Oh and along with Disgaea being more of an SRPG, Record of Agarest is also good in that regard as well. That's another full trilogy that you'll only find on PS3.

Have you played Lost Odyssey? It's far from average. Best game ever made by the creator of Final Fantasy.

Blue dragon is meh, but 360 and PS3 both have about the same number of quality JRPG exclusives. PS3 has Demon Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, Ni No Kuni, a couple Disgaea games and a couple Alteir games. 360 has Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Magna Carta 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, The Last Remnant, Project Sylpheed, and others.

You do realise that 360 has just as much support from Square Enix as PS3 has? Replace FFXIV (which isn't exclusive since it's also on PC/PS4) with The Last Remnant (also not exclusive) and trade off the upcoming Drakengard 3 for Infinite Undiscovery and PS3/360 have the exact same number of exclusives and multiplatform games from Square Enix.

Also if orniletter is a Tales of fan, then there is no good reason to ignore one of the best Tales of games released (Symphonia is better, and Xilla is unreleased). Also orniletter said he owns a Wii, so chances are, if he wanted Tales of Symphonia 1 & 2, he'd already have it.

As for Record of Agarest War, that's a 5-6/10 SRPG, with 2/3 games available on the 360. RoAW2 wasn't released on 360 due to poor sales of the first two.

---

The simple truth is, Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia are 2 of the best JRPG's this gen. They are as good, if not better then Ni No Kuni, Tales of Xillia, Valkyria Chronicles, XenoBlade, The Last Story, and Fire Emblem. If you want all the really good stand out JRPG's this gen, you need all 3 consoles, and for only 100 Euro, I think Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia alone are worth the buy. Plus add in some other good Japanese games like Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant, Magna Carta 2, Project Sylpheed, Blue Dragon, and DeathSmiles, and 360 is definatly a worthy buy.

I mean how can you tell him not to buy a 360 because PS3 has the Disgaea series, but ignore equally as good, if not better games, on the 360?

I see about 10 good Japanese games available for the 360, most of which sell for around $10-$15 here in Canada, with Tales of Vesperia being the exception. Assuming prices in Europe are about the same, he can buy the console with about a dozen games, and pay an average of $25 a game in the end. That's a bargain, the only reason why any JRPG fan shouldn't buy a 360 now is because they want the console to come down even more in price.

Plus 360 is BC, so if you don't own an XBox 1.....There is Panzer Dragoon, Conker, Crimson Skies, Jade Empire, KOTOR, Otagi, etc. Another 5-10 games to play.

---

Also I disagree with you about the best JRPG this gen. Lost Odyssey is the best JRPG this gen, followed by XenoBlade Chronicles at 2nd, and Valkyria Chronicles a distant 3rd. However to each there own, I wouldn't even put Demon's Souls in the top 10.

---

P.S. There is also Crackdown, it's not as good as InFamous, but it's the same type of game

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone !
I think i found the right solution for me: I will save the money for now, keep an eye on the 360 and wait for Gamescom/ after Gamescom to buy a Vita.
I´m really not a shooter fan, it would be great to play Fallout New Vegas on a console, but I can live with shitty graphics on my laptop :D....that leaves Lost Odyssey and Vesperia....on the other hand there are 3 Tales games on the Vita (albeit unlocalized/released) and the Nihon Falcom games....
The Vita library just suits my taste better !
Thanks again for the recommandations !
