I mainly view it as a collection game which I am highly addicted to.  You collect things like furniture sets, fossils, fish, bugs (which you can put in the museum for you and visitors to view).  It is a very relaxing game which you basically can do whatever at whatever pace that suits you.  Money owed to upgrade house doesn't require a time frame to pay for it, you can't die, you can't lose, etc..  So basically all the stress that other games usually puts on players is removed.  Sure you can have competitions with friends (who can catch the most fish and bugs within a time frame) but these are all just friendly competitions.  The online is also secluded to you and your friends (you don't have some random creepster visiting your town, actually I believe you can visit random people's town in New Leaf but you can't interact with them aka you can only view what they have done kind of without them actually knowing (a little creepy! jk..) which makes it nice since you don't have to deal with any jerks online.  Sure you can friend a random person on a video game website and they can be a jerk but that is the risk for adding a random person online as a friend.  Usually if you know the person a decent amount on VGC or other video game sites then you don't have to worry (some random people back in previous versions would try and chop down all trees, etc to piss people off).  You just gotta be careful who you are friends with.  So basically it is just one chilled relax game with elements from games such as The Sims and Harvest Moon.  The animals in your town are pretty fun sometimes to interact with too.  In past versions they would repeat themselves a decent amount but they sometimes surprise you with funny sayings the more you talk to them.

At least by marrying them you would know those ingrates wouldn't leave your town! In Wild World, my neighbours were always like "I'm gonna leave this town". And they did. I only got one photograph in my whole playthrough ;_;

Yea, those disloyal bastards!  They seemed to leave less in City Folk but still packed there bags.  It also seemed like you could convince them to stay more in City Folk compared to Wild World.  I believe I only got a couple photographs in WW but I knew people that had tons of photographs.  There are some true AC addicts out there!

Wow, I am surprised with the poll results so far with a decent majority claiming they will buy the game! I gotta go work out now and then go to work but I will be back to update the thread tonight.

Repeatedly telling them not to leave and sending them letters usually keeps them from going anywhere. What's really lame though is when they move out while you're not even playing, making it impossible to stop them. That's the main reason I finally stopped playing Wild World as my favorite neighbors kept on moving away. I'm hoping that in this game with you being the mayor n all, they have to check in with you first before leaving. Same should go for those trying to move in so you don't get any unwanted neighbors hehe.
