OK. JRPGs just keep being made because Japanese cant get enough of them though. Very few standout games in the JRPG lot.

Do you see, they're mostly the same if not, they are very rare.

JRPG's test gamers on a level FPS titles cannot. Call it cerebral....but look at where thge FF franchise has gone and you can see its probably going to turn into kingdom hearts with versus.

What do you mean by that?

FPS tests a persons reflex abilities. Its about timing, aim and quick thought process. Some people think faster than others under pressure. In games like battlefield its about formation and everyone fulfilling certain duties to capture flags and thus.

JRPG's test your strategy (battle style, character choice, cpu tractical plan, HP& MP counting, Specials attacks and ) inventory (potions use, mixture, weapon changes and upgrades, buffs which are numerous ), fantasy games unique to the world you're in.

Theres just a lot of crap.

I agree with FPS reflex abilities and whatnot but disagree with the rest.

Virtually every game can "test your strategy" but in the vast majority you don't need to (and most people don't) use strategy to play or beat them them. I'd say on the hardest difficulties for both genres JRPG's will need to have more strategy (however that can easily be combated by online play in a FPS which could employ a large amount of strategy by you and your teammates).

I would say most games have the potential use of strategy in them.

Most shooters I really do not enjoy. Hate would probably be a good word for it. The odd shooters gets my attention now and then.

Heres an example of popular shooters i really hate or just dont particularly like

Anything Bioshock
Most Halo games
Most Cod
Battlefield 2
Anything Rainbow six
All Ghost recom
Most james bond
Portal 1+2
Army of two
Far Cry.
Resistance games

I really could go on forever

Games i liked or find playable

Killzone 2
Resistance 1
Anything half life
Halo 2
Cod 4 (Can play other cods for a minute or two before getting bored) ok maybe 4 mins or so.
PS2 medal of honour games.
007 golden eye N64 Version.

The problem with FPS is that 99% are just complete utter crap. The other 1% is very few and far between. Also most shooters are just complete clones of the other.

Only FPS I really want to see more of at the moment is Killzone Shadow fall. Battlefield 4 might be worth a luck at aswell.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

A lot of modern games are also taking from RPG's. Almost every action, FPS game today is a semi RPG, but their depth is simple. All games have strategy because everyone goes about things differently to get the job done. On a personal level RPG's whether WRPG or JRPG allow for that to happen more, but JRPG's just test the mind more. Even when the Japanese develop western style RPG's they are still harder than when westerners make RPG's themselves.

I am in total agreement that strategy is involved, I am just talking about the degree. JRPG's flex the mental noodle and they keep you going with fantastical, and sometmes emotional stories.

I like them but they are certainly over saturating the market. I also hate how popular they are too, 12 million copies sold on one systems makes me feel like a lot of people are missing out on good games just to get their shooter rehash. Especially since most Modern Warefare games are so similar to each other.

There are a lot of crap FPS out there because of a saturated market, but I actually quite like a few games out of that genre. Some recent ones being

Bioshock Series
Metro 2033 and Last Light
The earlier Halo games
Some of the CoD series
Killzone 3

Pretty much generally a fan of single player oriented FPS games. but will occasionally play some multiplayer. I have to say though I got sick of Modern military FPS very quickly.

What western RPGs have they made? I'm curious now.

Depends on the franchiase. Halo? Battlefield? Battlefront? Rainbow Six? Gears?

Bring it on I say.

Considering Halo is my favorite franchise and really got me into gaming, I have to say I like them a lot. Never the less, I'm more than willing to admit to feeling the fatigue of the fps genre. Hopefully Destiny or some other game will bring something fresh to the genre.

Demon Souls, Dark Souls & Dragons Dogma? Catherine was harder than most western puzzle games I've played as well.
