Forums - Gaming Discussion - Windows phone hasn't been good to Nokia, Yoy marketshare

I hope that MSFT is compensating Nokia enough to "pay" for the -25% market share that they lost in a year's time, what do y'all say bout that?

Either way I think Nokia is happy. To be honest they are unable to compete with samsung anymore when it comes to android OS so Windows is giving them a different market to cater to. I think overall this partnership has benefited both Microsoft and Nokia and share prices of both companies are reflecting that.

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

The general idea of Nokia being "happy" with this arrangement seems doubtful, as they are going to have to basicallly tighten their belts and downsize if this trend continues, and you should have realized that already.

You are posting Nokia's total YOY Q1 phone sales and blaming it the lack of all phone sales on Windows Phone...which is a smartphone.

A. Trolling?
B. Bored?
C. Dense head?
D. All of the above?

The business model just cant compete with android and apple, sorry bub.

MSFT charges way too much for Nokia's so-called privelage of using the OS, and that's not helping Nokia.

If samsung starts using their own OS then google can just reign them in by supporting the other smartphone manufacturers with their marketing or whatever. Google is doing them a big favor IMHO by giving them a winning platform that is free, as opposed to MSFT demanding that they fork over $$$$ for its use.

It's a especially boneheaded because if he wanted to make Nokia look bad, comparing Nokia's YoY smartphone sales (Symbian + Lumia) actually looks worse:

But I guess that also shows a growing share of Windows phones being shipped, so it could be construed as favourable to Microsoft. Rats, foiled again!

Desperate Dallas, too desperate.

Dallas why are you doing this to yourself?

Meh.

Well, all google needs to do is buy more patents. The company is growing and its wallet with it, faster than MSFT. In a year or two, they could be the ones forcing MSFT to take it up the ass versus the other way around. And in the end, intellectual property is no different than any other kind of property.
