Do you think that the OP is jealous of the attention that Xenoblade and Ni No Kuni get from the Nintendo and Sony fanbases, respectively?

I don't see a case for why JRPG fans should be raving about Lost Odyssey more than they already have been, but I can understand comparing fanbase reactions to top-tier games in certain genres.

Nah, I don't think so. But I do see this thread a little bit pointless. Perhaps a more general-approach to JRPGs in general would have been more favorable (In my opinion).

If an JRPG in this day an age, considering how rare they are, is being raved because it is good, that's great news. If he wanted to compare fanbase reactions, I do think that a more general approach would have been better! But hey, that's my opinion anyway.

Neir isn't a 360 exclusive (but it is really, really good). Magna Carta 2 is at least worth a look.

Didn't the japanese version of Nier changed the main character?

360 has more than LO and ToV, though. I strongly recommend Magna Carta 2 and Nier, which are both exclusive to the 360. Nier is one of the best games I played this generation, while Magna Carta 2 is very similar to Xenoblade(and it has a great story too).

Yeah, forgot about that. But I believe at least outside of Japan it is a 360 exclusive, right?

I know that there were people making an english patch for this game but THEY WERE TAKING FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! I remember waiting for the patch in 2010 and i BET YOU MY LIFE that they still have not finished that patch.

I didn't want to play the 360 version of Vesperia because i heard that there was so much new content inn the PS3 version that it was almost a new game =P

but they were just taking too long with that patch and i havn't bothered to check their progress because i know its still not done yet

Nope, it's not a 360 exclusive anywhere.

It was originally intended to be 360 exclusive, but there is an English PS3 version.

Good luck understanding Japanese, bro =D

who me? LOL

I finshed TOV PS3 in 2009

some of us can speak more then one language  you know LOL

Lucky you, but I'm not going to learn a new language just to play a few more games. For most of us, this is a 360 exclusive.

Wright - Never give up hope. ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat for DS was also a 2009 game (I think) and the guy who made the patch apparently finished and was in the beta testing stages. Then he all of a sudden left, and didn't release the patch, leaving many Mistwalker fans sad. A few months ago, the patch somehow got leaked, and now I'm working on it (however the cutscenes still have Japanese dialogue and no subtitles). You might get lucky, most AAA games like this eventually do see fan translations.

I don't tend to give up hope. But I'm somehow pissed that these companies sometimes don't listen to gamers feedback. Just look at Operation Rainfall (Was it the one that brought Last Story, Xenoblade and Pandora's?). These people is blind sometimes. Lot of potential wasted because they just don't consider localization...

Thank god we have XSEED.

i remember there being much more raving about Lost Odyssey closer to when it came out. Since then, there's been plenty of good, more recent competition to steal the spotlight. But as for why 360 fans specifically don't seem to show it as much love as it probably deserves... I'm not sure. One would think that 360 fans would love having such a major exclusive JRPG when they're not common on Microsoft's systems. Although, I think 360 might've became a major stronghold for Western RPGs to the point where some fans simply wouldn't care.

That's weird, because back in 2006-2007 the Xbox was a stronghold for japanese games, especially RPGs.

Which is exactly why we're having this discussion.

Which is exactly what I don't understand. Don't tell me we're back at the "Xbox only plays shooter" thing of 2008. Everytime I've seen some JRPG chat in Vgchartz Lost Odyssey has been mentioned. People (you can tell in this same thread) love to say that feels weird to play japanese games on the Xbox. But people do, actually, and that's a fact. OP is saying why does not the Xbox crowd rant about Lost Odyssey. It is not needed...I think. Well, that's my opinion, though...

I cant lie, i felt the same way at 1 point.

one of my friends who had a 360 had some games and i was at his house with a bunch of people for awhile so i decided to download the Tales Of Vesperia demo. This was around 2010 when God Of War 3 just released because he had just went out and bought a ps3 for God Of War after seeing the commercial. He had Halo 3(this was the 1st time i got to play Halo 3 for more than a few minutes), Lost Planet 1 and Call Of Duty. So when i fired up Tales Of Vesperia, one of my other friends came in the living room and sat down and was like "what is this?" and i was like "just some random game i downloaded". so he looked at the game for a second and then looked back at me and he was like "dude, your fucking gay!" and i laughed and was like "I dont give a fuck!". He basically tried to go at me because of the colorful graphics and what not.

but im rambling

basically i thought it felt weird playing it on the 360 controller aswell coming from playing Tales Of Symphonia on the Gamecube controller.

but whatever i guess

Thank god we have XSEED.

Well Project Rainfall was really called for because Nintendo of Europe localized all 3 of those Wii games, and Nintendo of America only had to pay royalties to NoE to use their voice actors work/localization. NoA really didn't have to do anything to localize those games.

XSEED saw that and offered to buy the rights and pay the royalties, and make a small profit, plus grown a fanbase (I respect XSEED so much after this, and now all their games are on my radar).

Localizing Tales of Vesperia is a different story because they would need to hire voice actors. Either new ones, or the same ones who localized the 360 version (there is more dialogue in the PS3 version). That takes planning, and yes it's a lost profit, but Namco/Atari (publisher in Europe) are not the biggest companies and have to weigh their priorities. It is a shame, but at least you still have the option to shell out $130 for an arcade 360, and then $30 for this game, plus maybe another $20 for Lost Odyssey and $10 for Infinite Undiscovery and Magna Carta 2 each.
