Forums - Sony Discussion - What condition are your Sony consoles in?

My first PS1 broke
My second PS1 I brought second hand and someone had chipped it.
My first PS2 broke from a disc read error
My second PS2 wouldn't play DVDs
My 3rd PS2 I sold when I really needed the money
My 4th PS2 still exists (barely though)
My PS3, apart from a little disconcerting noise when starting up, works fine

*edit* incidently, my 20 year old nes and all my ninty consoles are in perfect working order.

My PS1 CD holder thing fell to pieces on me when my GF at the time (now my wife) inserted Crash Bandicoot 3 into it. I freaked... then I pulled the tiny little shards out of the PS1. That clip Sony put into the PS1 to hold the CD's in place was the biggest piece of garbage I ever saw. It had dried out and become extremely fragile. My PS1 was maybe 3 years old at the time. I had to remake my own CD holder for the PS1 and I glued it on. I don't remember what I used for the ring but luckily I was able to get it up and running pretty quickly. Otherwise my PS1 is covered in PSM stickers like FF9 on the disc tray and RR on the side. It still looks in good condition (in it's box) but it's probably so freaking fragile now that I don't know how well it would work anymore.

My PS2 is crapping out on me as well. I have one of the fat models from 2002. The DVD tray makes a grinding noise when closing. The MEM card slots don't work very well and the fan is as noisy as ever. I'd say my PS2 is louder then my friends 360 that he brought over to my house. Anyway both Sony products were made crappy and it's no surprise to see any of them in such bad shape with normal usage. My NES, SNES and N64 all still function 100% so why don't my much newer Sony products last as well?

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

PS1: works like a new (bought 1998)
PS2: works like a new (bought 2002 summer)
PSP: works like a new (bought 2005 christmas)

So i haven't had any problems with Sony products. =)

PS: First one, weird lense error thing (turn it upside down worked fine, 3 years in). 2nd one still runs.
PS2: From UK launch, still works.
PSP: Runs fine, not damage, got from launch

Hmm, pie.

My PS2 was a fixer upper before i got it. My friends repaired it after it broke so they sold it to me cheap. I'm pretty sure its in good condition but I'm not sure because I loaned it to a friend so he could play guitar hero 2 but then he got a PS3, and I haven't gotten it back yet.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

My PS2 is completely intact. Not incredibly surprising, since I've only had it for under 6 months.

PS1: The disk tray or whatever you call it doesn't close well.
PS2: I got an DRE (Disk Reading Error)
PSP: Perfect. Its the Slim version.
PS3: I got minor scratches. But who doesn't.

My 2002 PS2 (right in the middle of the DRE hiatus) is working PERFECTLY.....I don't know why people try to compare it to the 360 when the topic of a company's hardware's failure rate pops up. My PS1 still works great, but I don't play it, unless there's some PS1 game that won't work on my PS2. My PSP...somewhere off in the country, for I had sold it on eBay a LONG time ago. And last, but definately not least, my PS3 is just on beast mode. Working beautifully

My PSone was in perfect condition , untill I gave it away .... my PSP and PS2 are still in flawless conditions :)
