Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why is Ocarina of Time not in your top 5 games list?- Smeags top 250 thread proves it is in your collective top 5!

The answer to that for this thread has to do with biology, genetics and psychology.

Happens with movies, games, women etc. etc.

weird illustration I know but its great example.

My friend the other day saw a woman with the "nicest ass." I told him i'm not the "ass" type of guy. I am more into legs of a women. He's like, "WHAT? How can that even be?"

**Back on topic. I love Majoras mask more than Ocarina.

The ending of Majoras mask was definitely ahead of its time. It delivered a message without any kind of voice acting.

Wha- Who are you to get annoyed about what someone's opinion is. OOT is in my top 10 games of all time, but truth is, the way it has aged has pushed it down from my number 2 spot. Either way, Majora's Mask is in my opinion a better game in atmosphere and fluid game design.
Don't get me wrong, OOT was and still is amazing. Just not as amazing as when it came out, and I judge things based on how much fun I can have with them today, not in 1998.

It's not in my top 5 but it's still a great game, really loved the 3DS remake too. I probably got to the party a little bit late as I played it after Wind Waker through the GC port. I can see how those who played the original N64 version would've been completely blown away though.

It's the best Zelda game ever, and I agree with Spurge!

Wait... Spurge and I agree on something?

Over the past week I have seen multiple people say OoT was not their favorite Zelda title or that great of game. This has boggled my mind and even annoyed me in some instances.

I see no reason why this game should be ragged on after years of everyone saying it is great or was great. Obviously this is based on those who have only played the recent 3D remake. It was not just something differrent for its time people! It was revolutionary! The open worlds, stealth, story, epona, mini games, hidden objects, boss battles ( dat final battle!) dungeons and...fishing. What did it not have that makes you say it was sub-par?

You're 100% right. Having played OoT when it was a new game, I can say that it was truly revolutionary. The music, gameplay, graphics etc etc were great. Having a 3D detailed open world was just amazing; anyone claiming it wasn't anything special clearly is looking back at an era of gaming they were not a part of.

Would I replay it? No.  A good game does not necessarily need to be replayed to be good. It was a revoltionary game, but as time moves on, our expectations increase due to the advancements in technology and evolution in game design. If it was released yesterday, it'd be a pretty shit game. The fact it came out 10 years ago (or however long ago, cba2wiki) is the reason why it was revolutionary. Think about the lightbulb; no one would look at a lightbulb and say it's not revolutionary.

I haven't really played it for a significant length of time. I don't own a 3DS and have no plans to acquire one in the near future, and I could grab it on an emulator, but I have liked precisely 0% of the 5th gen 3D games I have gone back and replayed.

Okay, Crash: Warped was playable. But that's the only one. I can't stand 5th gen 3D design philosophy. That was before they understood how to actually control a 3D world with a gamepad.

My favorite is Skyward Sword maybe cuz of the amazing controls and the awesome visual style, i never played the original Ocarina of time but i played the 3D Remake and it was actully an awesome game.

It doesn't make my top five because Zelda isn't my type of game (Heck, probably wouldn't make my top 50 if I was being honest..)
