Forums - General Discussion - George W. Bush: 364 days and counting down until his final term is up!!!!

How are people defending Bush? What good has he done for America? Iraq could best be described as a shitstorm. We are in a recession. He put America in monumental debt by making misguided tax cuts. Someone claimed that Clinton had a chance to kill bin Laden. That was debunked quite awhile ago. 9/11 did not happen because of Clinton, it happenned because Bush dramatically mismanaged his first 9 months in office. He resisted an independent probe into 9/11 because he was lax in his duties and let it happen. Bush has also limited personal rights. How can you defend someone who wanted the Patriot Act, which dramatically reduces the First Amendment's powers. While yes, Bill Clinton was merely an average President, Bush is up there with Buchanan (did nothing to stop the Civil War) and Nixon. Bottomline, this country is far worse off than it was on January 20, 2001.

^^ Hey I'm not a fan of Bush, but don't you dare blame 9/11 on him.

I hate pricks who rag on the president, because regardless of what party or who the president is, they will always complain, they need someone to blame their problems on.

So you should all shut the hell up and be respectful, he was elected two terms for a reason, obviously more people wanted him then a lousy democrat. And we all know he did better then you could do.

You are wrong, more people did not want him for his first election. Gore won the popular vote. The electoral college voted him in. Check your facts.

I'm 26 years old have a degree from a University, have studied politics from around the world so thank you for telling me to educate myself. I'm sorry but for anyone to want a Democrat in the White House and bring back Socialist policies is crazy.

Bush had nothing to do with 9/11. Yes I can prove that Clinton had the chance to kill Bin Laden, but don't want to spend the time or effort finding it right now.

I'm callin it right now if Hilary runs against McCain in November, McCain will destroy her.

@snooty89
Hilary will beat McCain. He has shifted too far to the right in the last few years, and people are tired of Republican rule. Besides, Obama still has a chance.
Also, I find your remark that she would bring socialist policies incredibly asinine and offensive. Only a small minority of Democrats are socialist. While I am undoubtedly liberal, I don't go that far. All I want is more equality and to get out of the messes that we have gotten into in the last 8 years.
@segajon
I don't blame 9/11 entirely on Bush, but he could have done much more to prevent it. Blame also goes to the CIA and FBI for not sharing information. 9/11 might not have happenned if Bush and the intelligence agencies did not completely crumble in 9 months.

I been watching a few of the Democratic debates and Hillary seems to be one tough lady and a very fierce debater  and shes got her husband campaigning for her. McCain is something like 70 years old now and I don't know whether he could stand up to the pounding he would get from the Clinton machine! He better hope Obama gets the nomination he's got a much better chance of beating Obama then he does Hillary

Obama seems like a decent guy at least, I don't have confidence in him to lead a country though. Charisma is one thing, leadership is different. If he wins the primaries, I think Democrats will win the election.

Hillary is not. If there's one thing that will motivate the right conservative group, it's her. They will make a point to get out and vote, if only to keep her from getting into office.
