Nintendo Is Not Working On Fix For Wii U's Slow OS

Posted Thu, 20 Dec 2012 | 21:15 GMT by Orla Madden

We may stay frustrated between loading times

We stand corrected

We reported yesterday that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata had apologised for the long loading times when switching between applications on the Wii U. He went on to say that a solution was in the works, but no time-frame was given.

That's great, Nintendo took responsibility for this minor hiccup; we all accepted the apology. But now that's all gone down the drain, as after the news got out about the presumed solution to the sluggish operating system, the PR folk over at Nintendo got in touch with Engadget to rectify this announcement. Iwata actually stated that an update is in development for Dragon Quest X, not the Wii U OS.

You can watch the Chotto Nintendo Direct broadcast where Iwata discusses new information on Dragon Quest X below:

Yay translation errors! :/

At the 50-second mark in the Nintendo Direct above, Iwata talks about improvements that will be made to the OS, including the lag when switching between applications.

Honestly I find this hilarious. Apparently the Wii U owners on these forums don't seem to be bothered by playing the waiting game. So why should Nintendo dedicate any resources to fixing the problem. It is nice that they have made it clear that they don't have any intentions of replacing a feature their players love. I expect Nintendo to release a game that simulates watching paint dry in the near future. That will be another sure fire million seller.

Just a little jocularity here folks. Take it as the ribbing it was intended as. After reading another thread on this very subject. A interesting thought occurred to me. When exactly does a load become bad. I mean we are talking about a operating system here, and not accessing a external content provider. All I have heard is people saying it isn't that bad.

Yeah, I saw that as well. This is confusing.

What a awfully missleading title. (the title of the article). Just because what they said was not refering to the WiiU's OS doesnt mean they are not working on it. Ofcaurse they are working on it.
