Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is the Xbox 360 a Success?

Well, answer the damn question.

Yes it is. 333 77.26%

No it isn't. 68 15.78%

I love it when you recycle, d21! 30 6.96%

Simple question:  Is the 360 a success?  Take into account the totality of things.  Did it succeed financially?  Commercially?  Did it live up to Microsoft's expectations?  DId it provide the type of games that justified its existence?  Is the 360 the underdog console that overcame all odds to become a hit or is the 360 the console that had all of the potential to be king, only to be overtaken in sales and games by its rivals?

Consider the 360's competition.  Consider the 360's legacy.  Consider the 360's obstacles.  Consider the 360's contributions.  Consider all of this and tell me if Microsoft and the gaming world are better off with the 360 on the market.

Yes, and no explaination should be needed.

The 360 has increased Microsoft's marketshare and has also been profitable(I think) so it's definitely a success.

As much as a success as sliced bread.

Yes, the original Xbox sold approx 24 million. So the User base has grown by around 41 million. And thats conseidering the whole RROD shambles. (I do wonder though how many of the 360's 65.1M sales were replacements?, just a thought!.)To say its not a succsess would be madness.

yes. Is this really a question? XBL, Avchievement, XBLA, Party chats, competed with sony in its second generation, software sells well third party and first party. The list goes on.

I know the recent decrease in the gap is making some a bit insecure about the 360s success, but anyone who says the 360 is a failure or anything short from success is a damn fool.

From every possible angle (perhaps even RRoD boosted sales?); yes.

Edit: Two users voted no? Please explain yourselves.

***PLAYSTATION FAN NOW ENTERING MS THREAD!!!***

;)

yes, the 360 is a success. MS basically achieved a lot of stuff that they wanted to achieve. MS just wanted to give the royalty of gaming a run for their money and they did a damn good job doing that. That is all MS ever wanted to do

EDIT: did i mention that i'm a PlayStation fan? =P

It gained market share and help deflate Sony's dominance. It has made a large amount of money even after taking loses from RROD. It has developed a great online component that people are willing to pay for and has become a pretty good entertainment hub.

The 360 overcame the sub-par release of the original Xbox and has set itself up to possibly be the market leader next generation. It's a success in almost every category.
