Exactly. Which is why I think they'd be better off if they held off until the next gen arrives, because even after all the hype Crysis 2 was pretty underwhelming, both in terms of sales and the game itself. I don't see how 3 can do any better, being that it'll be so late in this console gen, not to mention it'll probably get lost in the post-holiday shuffle like its predecessor did last year. With some really big titles coming out this holiday season (not to mention the launch of the Wii U), and GTAV rumored for a spring '13 release as well, how can they honestly expect Crysis 3 to do any better than 2 did?

I don't think they expect it to do much if any better TBH, like I said this looks like a quick way to make use of the work they have already done. Same setting, same engine etc means they can turn it arround quickly (2 years vs 3 for Crysis 2). Also I wouldn't be surprised to see a Crysis 3 trailer at Nintendo's presser at E3. I mean it's not like Crysis 2 would have actually lost money, just not been the hit they expected.
For next gen they have Ryse, Homefront 2, and also likely a WARFACE port. Then they can use Crysis 4 to push their tailored to next gen hardware Cryengine 4 in 2015/16 when the install base is built up a bit.
