Guys, let´s wait till E3.

The Wii is an anomaly, it´s the first time Nintendo released a very underpowered home console compared to the competition, and since they seem hungry for all those core 3rd party games, they can´t afford such a big gap in power again.

So, I imagine the Wii U will indeed be more powerful than the 360 and PS3, and less powerful than the next Xbox and PS4, the important question is...by how much?

2 questions:

1.how much is the gap in power between the Wii U and 360/PS3?...the answer to this question, I expect to see this year.

2.how much will the gap in power be between the Wii U and the next Xbox/PS4?..the answer, probably sometime next year.

yeah like andrespetmonkey said, better wii u graphics would mean better xbox and ps4 graphics as well because i think they will try to be better than nintendo in graphics. for example if the wii u would have the graphics microsoft was planning for next xbox, microsoft will then make a better console than they were planning. or at least they will  have same graphics but never worse than nintendo's.

this has to be great news for everyone (if true) as long as consoles won't cost 1000 bucks or so lol.

8th gen will be like the 6th gen where PS2 was the weakest but not as weak as Wii was to PS360 so WiiU will most likely be the PS2 of the 8th gen as far as graphical differences go

i'm just saying that, if the wii u will be better than expected, microsoft and sony won't bring a console which would be worse than that. and if microsoft was planning a console with graphics which would be worse than wii u's will be, they will put a little bit more in their console than planned.  not that there will be a huge difference between wii u and ps4/xbox. like i said "at least same graphics"

Yeah I agree and I’ve always thought that next box and next station would be more powerful than WiiU

Yes.

I'd prefer to no longer see threads like this that are based on 6 month old articles featuring someone that's basing their opinion on "what he's seen of the specs".  Because within these pointless threads are lots of people making not a whole lot of sense.  I just wanted to make sure and quote one of the few rational thoughts on here that goes along with the only thing to say at this point...

Just.  Wait.

i remember back in the day when specs and power didn't matter to nintendo fans... looks like those days are long gone...

How about Sony fans?

sony and microsoft fans are said to generally show more interest in specs, power, graphics etc and are ( or were ) looked down on by some nintendo fans for that... wouldn't you agree?

but from what i'm seeing nintendo fans aren't so different after all

look at the comments of this trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arHNcSMXaBk

I'm pretty sure Sony fans didn't care that the N64 was much more powerful than the PS1, and that the GameCube and Xbox were more powerful than the PS2. According to your logic, didn't they suddenly care about power when the PS3 was relatively powerful? Didn't they look down on the Wii?

imo there wasn't as large a disparity ( from what i experienced ) between the ps1 and n64 or the ps2 and the gamecube as there has been between the wii and ps3 in terms of visuals...

so i'm not sure i agree with this point "didn't they suddenly care about power when the PS3 was relatively powerful?"

but i do agree with this point "Didn't they look down on the Wii"

but regardless, i've generally only seen nintendo fans insult others by calling them stuff like "graphics whores" and push the argument that power, graphics etc don''t matter and i'm just making the point that for me its ironic what i'm seeing now

I think the fallacy in your argument is that you define the group "Nintendo fans" as a homogenous group of people with the same opinion.

There are tons of Nintendo fans who don't care much for polygon counts and texture resolutions, and there are tons of Nintendo fans who do care about these things. The people that called others "graphics whores" are not necessarily the same people that are hoping that the Wii-U will be a graphical powerhouse. There is also undeniably a large group of Nintendo fans who think the big focus on graphics early this generation was detrimental to the gaming industry but still hopes the Wii-U to be a little step up from this generation's graphics.

Is there a name to this "THQ Employee"?
Why did you post this dude? September 2011.......

This is a pathetic attempt on your part to do "damage control". No one expects the Wii U to be noticeably more powerful than a PS3 or Xbox 360. Those of you expecting that, you should savor this "rumor".

It wasn't a pathetic attempt and there are people expecting it to be noticeably stronger than the ps3/360.

How big is much more powerful? I mean, relatively speaking, if we're talking in terms of the NES to the SNES, that's quite a huge jump.

Well, enough of that, I for one can't wait to see what they have in store for E3. Because honestly, the only system worth getting next-gen is a Wii U since Sony and Microsoft first party is mediocre at best (I wonder when we'll ever get out of this shooter craze) and every other game is multiplat. Saves me a lot of trouble.

Yup and Windows 8 will have live integrated so I could give two shits above next gen. The Wii-U will definitely have variety of exclusives and third party games that will make sales. case closed. :)

If I get to choose between better game play and better graphics I will go with better game play as it is more important but when we can have both of course I would like that more.

Holy shit, it's the same argument I've been seeing for 5 years but with company roles reversed. That's just hilarious.

Damn, Nintendo fans want dat power.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

Noone had given solid numbers, we don't know how powerful it is.

I LOVE ICELAND!

We're a little bit over 2 months away from E3 and, while it is unlikely that we will get published specs, odds are pretty good that we will have an idea what the Wii U's performance is like ...

Personally, I expect a half-generation jump over the PS3 and XBox 360; producing a nice boost in visuals with a modest price tag, and the primary selling feature will not be the processing power.
