Forums - General Discussion - OMG halo DS release date confirmed!!!!!!!!

dont you people realise even though bungie is now it's own company the Halo franchise still belong's to Microsoft. It's like Nintendo, Rare and Microsoft. Even though Rare belongs to MS they still can't publish Donkey Kong games because they belong to Nintendo, MS could make Banjo kazooie, killer instinct, conker games because nintendo don't own them

Currently Playing: Gears 2, World at War, GTA IV, Banjo Nuts and Bolts

Doesn't anyone remember this footage from last year? It was proven to be a mod of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent DS.

I dunno, might be

Yes it is likely just a mod of an existing game.  Matt has said it was nothing more than a concept game that another gaming company brought to Bungie to try to get permission to make Halo DS.  Bungie rejected it and someone at the gaming company gave a copy of the concept game to IGN.

Do you seriously think a company that comes up with an idea like that is going to spend hundreds of thousands, maybe a million or two, fully making a new game to show Bungie, or do you think they are going to spend a couple thousand dollars making a mod of an existing game to show as a concept to Bungie?   In case you're not sure, they are going to make a mod of a current game to show (yeah that kind of gives away who was pitching the idea to Bungie).

EDIT: Dagnabbit, I wasted my 1,000th post on this topic.

HAHA it's not really got a release date, I used the clever topic thread to reel you all in.

BTW i'm really really bored, hence the jokey thread title.

Forum Rules:

  1. Thread titles must be work safe, descriptive and on topic. Keep the language in thread titles clean. We don't restrict language usage in posts (up to a point), but thread titles are a different matter. Whatever luridly foul things you wish to say about Luigi, you can find a work safe euphemism for the title. Also, letter substitution fools nobody, but strings of unpronounceable symbols are acceptable. Now for the descriptive and on topic bit. It's very simple - use the thread title to sum up or describe what you are saying in your post. Do not use the title as a deceptive hook to lure people in. Do not post something useless like "How do I..." and have the question in the post. Use a game's full name rather than just a abbreviation of it. Starcraft instead of SC. Star Control 2 instead of SC2. Soul Caliber 3 instead of SC3. SimCity 4 instead of SC4. Abbreviations mean different things to different people, so Be Specific. Also, be careful about using the word "official" or "perpetual." Do not simply declare your thread official by fiat. Threads are only "official" or "perpetual" if management says so. In a decision between two threads on the same topic, the thread with the most clear thread title will take priority over the thread with a more obscure topic, even if the latter is posted first.

Anyway... it's old.

omg that would be sick

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

From Matt's blog:

Some time ago, I blogged about playing a cancelled version of Halo DS. The game was the real deal, created by a real development studio and with a very big publisher. But for reasons we won't discuss, Halo DS was never released. Clearly. Obviously. Still, it would've been cool, huh?

Let's be clear. This game will never see the light of day. At the same time, the below videos prove that Halo DS wasn't a garage project by a two-man team. There were some very big names involved with this title, so it's a shame you won't get to play it.

Hardly just an idea from a developer.
