I honestly wouldn't ever imagine Gears to fall below Mtacritic's "AAA" status but with reviewers being a little more reserved with just throwing aroun high 9s and 10s of late, it's become the norm.

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it fell below a 90. But I have a feeling it will settle on 90. Which at the beginning of the generation would have been a 95

Also, someone asked about the graphics of the game and they claim it's the best looking game on the XBOX 360, but (and i quote) "PlayStation 3 has three games that look better than it".

Thinking back on the Top 10 graphic list by GR, its safe to say those games are (in following order):
Uncharted 2, Killzone 3 and God of War 3.

Anyway my point is:

Gears of War 3 is the best looking game on the 360! Selnor get your ass in here :D.

Yeah, no reviews call it the best looking on consoles, but I didn't think they would anyway. Not saying it isn't worthy, just not quite on the same level, potentially, as stuff like Killzone 3, RAGE, Uncharted 3, or Battlefield 3.

From what I played of the beta, there was no question it was the best looking game on the platform, however.

I think we are at a level of end progression as far as this gen tech goes. Reviewers are certainly not saying PS3 exclusives are on another level.

If Killzone 3 is anything to go by, in 2011, they have. Still, means very little overall and Gears 3 is a mighty fine looking game without setting the world on fire. Quite simply, it doesn't need to.

A game that was reviewed months ago cant really be compared to a game reviewed now. It doesnt mean its there or there abouts or equal. Personally theres alot more to talk about in a review of Gears 3 as people generally want to know what the multiplayer is like. We already know it will look great.

Just out of curiosity. When did I troll? You said I did a bit. To my knowledge my comments here have all been conservative and opinionated. Not directed as any kind of fact.

How did I know some stupid 'best graphics on any console' bullshit would pop up here, some people can't help themselves.

Gears should outsell all these graphical powerhouses proving just how worthless all that extra polish is.

you can argue all day about best graphics but IGN and many like it have crowned Crysis 2 the graphics king on consoles so lets get back to contributing to this topic shall we

Agreed. Graphics are null and void now. Everything looks the same quality to me these days.

OT:

I CANT WAIT!

First Gears 3, then Forza 4 followed by Halo Anniversary and then Skyrim. I am a spoiled gamer. :)

The debates doesn't seem to have gotten out of hand yet. They seem pretty decent for the most part. The Gears franchise has been known to "raise the bar" in a variety of different departments, graphics being one of them It's only natural for people to discuss if Gears has raised the bar once again. I don't see the problem.
